I think this sums it up for you. Originally post by scalvert.

That's an evasion. Please address my question.

Yes, except...

"4.2 You will not use the DPChallenge.com Service to post content that... (v) does or may denigrate or offend any ethnic, racial, gender, religious or other protected group."

It's a pretty safe bet that you would have offended a religious group, and that IS a violation of the ToS.

Seems to me that deleting such offronts to common consideration is EXACTLY what we're discussing here.

Here's the first post to get back to "...the topic for debate in this thread."

Where's the justice???

ok, look. i'm going to post what is going on here so we can let other decide who's being offensive and who's being one-sided.

while the posts were hidden in the original thread due to the contextual nature of that thread, i find them appropriate in this thread. and, since notonline posted them originally in this public venue and did not requested their removal (indeed, exactly the opposite), i am going to assume his tacit approval for posting them here.

the conversation went as follows, and is from taterbug's "Need some luvin' from my dpc family..." thread:

---

Originally posted by davidus428:

"For God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose." - Bible (Romans 8:28)

Even difficult and hard to explain happenings like this will remind us something to thank God for. God bless you Tater... with more than what was taken away from you.

The original poster didn't refer to your ethnic background or religious group as, "crap." Posting a verse from the bible (or any other religious text) as consolation for someone who requested it is not an offensive gesture.

The simple existance of another religious group is not considered a denigration or offence to whatever ethnic group or religious group you consider yourself a member of.

Notonline - you are not in a democracy, and you do not have "rights" on DPC, except those granted in the terms you agreed when signing on to the site. 4.2 does not say anyone is "right": it sets out an obligation on your part. Whether you or anyone else is complying with that obligation will always be open to debate and subject to the facts.

You and the SC have a difference of opinion on whether one or more of your posts have been in the right place, and whether another commenter has inappropriately used a religious reference. No one has suggested that you cannot make your point, merely that it should be made in another place.

This site is populated by a huge mixture of people, many of whom choose to follow a religion, and some of whom regularly provide religious quotations by way of guidance. I don't particularly like the practice of offering up religious guidance in a secular context. But I reject the idea of stifling those comments (where would you start or stop?), and most are well meant.

You are not being stifled, but you are being directed to post in a more harmonious manner (ie not thread-jacking). The irony is that you are requesting that other comments be deleted because you find their contents objectionable.

He did NOT request ANY religious context. He may not have been offended by it but I was when I went to console him.

Your right. Where's Hitler when you need him??? <--- Thats not right.

since this site is based from the USA it should be a democracy. I did NOTHING wrong in the ToA that wasn't done before me and yet my post was deleted. IU'm not asking for the post to be removed but that SC as a collective be MORE aware of offensive matterial and stop religious content from being posted as it itself is offensive.
