Yawn...... I'm afraid I'll have a hard time getting excited about even 20% of these. It was a rather limiting category, so the subject matter with this many entries is kind of boring. I've been sick, so maybe I'll have a new perspective tomorrow.
High contrast? Now THAT might be interesting. I think with Branch, we are going to see so many trees, we'll be as sick of them as we now are of shoes. (Sorry, to be a grump - I'm off to bed to hopefully feel better)

I guess I am just too generous, I tend to vote on the high side, if a photo is technically ggod, or pleasing to the eye in color, composition or if it has a good theme it should be worth something.
I have had 3 votes and I have 3 points. There is no way my photo or anyone else who entered hereout of good intentions deserves a 1.
EDIT here: Duhhh, don't I feel stupid, That is an average vote of 3, first to say I am wrong when I am wrong. Ok, 3, I will take that for now.
The fact any photo has shoes in it at all deserves a 1, that the title is revelant to the subject should bring it up to 2, if there is anything at all about it other than it is just horrible it should get a 3. Why are people so stingy with their votes, It's almost like they didn't even give it a moments thought and rushed to the next one.
Well, they can do as they like, I will still vote the way I do,and it seems to be working for me so far. Right now my system that I am trying out goes something like this.
Every photo starts out as a 10, then I start to subtract for what I feel isn't right.
-2 immediately if I know it's not going to end up as a personal favorite. (this still leaves a nice high 8 if everything else is right on, so you can get an 8 from me even if I personally don't care for your photo and I feel that is fair.
-1 if it is off subject
-1 if the title sucks
-1 if it isn't very original
-1 if it has no creativity
-1 if the composition isn't good (including background)
-1 out of focus or focus not where it should be
-1 for bad lighting
-1 if the color/bw isn't effective
So far I have been able to give as high as a 10 and as low as a 1 ( the one being that that photo had nothing to do with the challenge as far as I could see and it really missed the mark on everything above--I think it was planted to see what would happen, because even trying to be as fair as possible, I couldn't give it anymore. Therefore I think this system is going to do well for me. I guess you could say that I look at the glass high full instead of half empty.

umgh. did I say something about winning a ribbon on this one? ugmgh (eating humble pie) Perhaps I will get the brown ribbon? I am really shocked that this is tanking like this as I truly put a lot into it and thought it was much better than the scores are reflecting. Oh well - gonna go eat more pie now

Yeah I think so, that's why I didn't use it, but then I see a few things that I didn't think you could do that were done. Still new to all this so not totally sure. Should have went with the risque one. But with 10 mins to shoot and edited, ya get what ya get.
