Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II for only $1000.00

I really think it is, unless this person is selling stolen equipment. If this is a scam, how can eBay let this auction go on?

i wouldnt even touch that with a 10 foot pole

Im not sure if it is a scam or not, but it sure smells funny to me. I would stay away.

I saw one like this a year or so ago for a Contax DSLR, I asked the seller a question about the price and it appeared that he was just wanting to sell it at any price. A day later the item was pulled from ebay.

this is a scam..

an no pro photographer would pick those sigmas on the 1Ds II.

and you can't buy this from ebay, it states contact seller directly via email not throug ebay store, so this is a stolen account, the only item he's sold is ski school 2 on DVD.. how can he have multiple 1DsII ?

I would bid $2.50 for it.

I just sent this guy an email to ask about the auction. I'm curious to see what the response is.

You know what they say. "If it sounds too good to be true..."
Maybe it's just stolen goods.

Click on "View sellers other Items" and be amazed... he has alienware laptops for 800 bucks...G5 Power books for 1000 usd... Lots of cool things... Feedback of 22, San Jose CA and using paypal I guess anything is possible but I'd ask for the Serial # on the Cam.

Actually last year there was something similar and I urged my mom to write and email because he wanted an email stating if you were serious or not. The seller responded that the actual price was 4K but that it could have been negotiable but he was looking for a serious professional photographer.

Could be the case once again :/

Here is the response from the seller, Sounds to good to be true:
HI
First I want to tell you that my canon is brand new, unopened box
all accessories included, and also an international warranty.
The invoice will come at the same time with the package.
My price is the best you could get: 1000$/unit, including the
shipping and insurance taxes. We will pay them because the package
will be delivered from Europe.I have 5 units avalaible.
As delivery service we use UPS 2 days air service or overnight (with insurance and
15 days return policy), because it's the faster also free. And if you will have
a quick payment, we must also have a quick delivery. So that's why we
use as a payment method Western Union money transfer, the fastest and
also very secure way of sending money.

So, if you agree with my terms ,i'm sure that we can close the deal as soon as possible.
Waiting your quick answer right now,

WESTERN UNION - theres your scam kids!

Don't buy from this guy theres no protection he will take the money and run. WU has no protection for buyers - its not even meant to be used this way, it was designed for family to get money to other family members.

The Ebay listing says the item location is Tucson, AZ, which is where I am. I've sent an email so will see what the reply is. I've bought and sold several items on EBAY but am reluctant to use anything but PayPal. This guy seems to want Western Union and the price is certainly too good to be true. Obviously a scam.

Exactly what Mesmeraj said.

Recently my boyf was looking to buy a rebel xt online, and saw v good bargain on ebay, he thought better of it, and cancelled it. Later the seller send a fake email pretenting to be ebay demanding a western union money transfer, as he had supposedly already send the package. He was very persistent and sent several more emails to the same effect, until he was informed that his scam was reported!

Ebay has a mechanism for reporting these scammers. Include any emails the guy sent you too.

Remember a site that described such a scam, they traced the scamees and sent a fake item. Anyone have that link still?

I know this is the reverse of what happened here (selling instead of buying), but it would be great if this creep could get burned... I mean atomic wedgie burned. Wouldn't that be cool?

How would this get reported to ebay? I've looked through the help section and don't see anything unless you have already purchased something.

I sent this guy the following response:
I̢۪m sorry but this sounds too good to be true. On your listing it states that the item location is in Tucson, Arizona, but the item is shipping from Europe? Also, I only send payments through PayPal.

The camera that you have for auction is an amazing camera, good luck with your auction.

This is what he responded with:

I'm from usa but I just opend an electronic company in europe.
The shipping will be made trough UPS
express delivery and because I will pay for the shippment you will pay
the fees for the money transfer. The payment which I accept is Western
Union.
no PayPal because the withdraw limit is 500USD per week. I cant use paypal because it said im over my limitand
i dont want to sound stupid but i dont understand why i cant use
paypal they only gave me a 2000.oo dollar limit for mounth my credit card has way more
than that on it. I usually pay the products with cash money.
More, I don't trust paypal payments anymore i got scamed last week or any
other onlne auctions go to this web address and read the
reviewes://paypalsucks.com/
Western Union services are more secure that paypal or any other online
services.
No particulary reasons for western union but i will receive the funds
more easy, anyway you can ask for reference at :
admin@safeserverebay.com

having worked as one of the ppl that will hand you the money for western union BS is it more secure. Anyone can pick up the WU money. The only thing you need to know is the name of the person sending it.
And the transfer fee for 100 is probably something like 350 dollars. WU takes a HUGE cut of the money you send.

This is SO totally a scam...

The deal sounds to good to be true.
Stepping in to say that not every business that requests payment by wu or moneygram are scams. We say it's safer because if a customer sends a payment thru the regular mail, who knows if it will reach it's final destination and the mail takes longer and the customer's payment will be exposed to at least 4 people during the process. WU does guarantee that the money will arrive at the destination within a short time. You can call them and get a confirmation that the money was received. Within the US the fee for WU is 12.95 for our customers. Moneygram is from 6 to 8.95. We are a business so we have codes that direct the payment to our offices. I would think that any real business would also have these codes.
