:::david's site:::
I can't recall anyone ever discussing him here - oddly. One of the world's most reknowned celebrity photographers (among other things). Although I find his overtly sexual images mundane after a while (I mean, how many times can you see a boob or a girl with her mouth open before it gets boring? Don't answer that...) I still know he's brilliant. THe most disturbing image, personally, was James Van Der Beek. Check it out, it's worth a look. Oh and note Moby with his pants down humping a robot.
Most of these concepts blow me away - a great team behind the lens.
WARNING - LOTS OF NUDITY

Probably good to put a warning in the thread title for those still at work. Nice link though. Going to check out his work now.

My first impression is that's part of the story. The emphasis is on teh little girl. The editing on his images is extensive but jaw dropping! I wonder who does it...I can't imagine he's got the time to do it himself. |

i've never found his work to be that great.
Yes the ideas are interesting but all the images seems to be dead. theres no emotive interaction. The photos are cold & indifferent and really they should be the opposite if he is trying for the mindfreak thing. |

He's been one of my favorites for quite awhile, besides his subject matter, I especially love his vibrant offbeat visions. Top notch stuff, plus he's pretty diverse in that he's into directing as well. He's done some fabulous videos. Great stuff! I myself could never begin to dream up some of the stuff he's done. I wish I had even just a tenth of his creative mind. :-)

i've always muchly admired his work...i just adore his portrait of Tori Amos. :)
also, for everyone who says they will mark down a photo in the Portrait Challenge that isn't in portrait orientation...check out his portrait gallery...probably half of them are in landscape orientation.

What? Are people saying that!? The narrowmindedness just freaks me out! Arghgggggghhhhhh!!!! Why the hell do the vote Librodo's pic into first place for D&L for example (I gave it a 10)!?
People, just enter square portraits. End of all BS! :)

The shot of Tori Amos caught my eye, too. I don't know why anyone would think his work lacks emotion. A lot of it is morbid, but that's why it's so fascinating. The one of John Mayer being electrocuted in the bathtub is a hum-dinger..his expression is great. I love how he can get anyone, not just models and actors, to give the right look. |

I have to say I'm not a big fan of his. There are some people I know at school who are aspiring to be him basicly. I don't understand it, aside from meeting all those famous people and talking them into taking off their cloths there isn't much to his shots. I'm not going to say they aren't artistic in nature, but it almost seems like every shot reminds me of a different shot he has done. not much of a varity
mabey I'm just weird, but I don't like him at all even though most people I know do like him. |
