It looks like I peaked with my Matrix and Post Card photos becuase ever since then I keep getting lower and lower. Right now my score is dropping so fast I can't keep up. I'm at 4.6 when just this morning it was at 5.5 Almost a full point in less than 8 hours. Oh well.

Glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing this. I think this is the only time that I've had a score of a high 5 that dropped down to a high 4 overnight. I was kind of suprised that my score dropped down a full point. |

Originally posted by ScottK: I got lucky on my first submission and got a 5.2 - I was thrilled. I got REALLY lucky on my second submission (with some help from my daughter, who suggested the shot) and broke the 6 barrier - I was overjoyed. Then, to find out how little I really know, i've been nosediving ever since! But it's helped me learn, and I'm improving with a pretty good (and doing pretty well) liquid entry. You'll get there (and hopefully, someday we all will!) if you keep trying - experience is the best teacher.
Mav, 200 shots a week? That sounds a little low... ;-) I shot 100+ shots Monday night for my liquid entry! |
I routinely shoot 300+ photos several times a week. I have recently shot over 1000 in one week while in California. Without the cost of film and processing, I find myself shooting numerous photos, varied slightly. Then I find the 3 or 4 out of a 20-30 image set that are great and get rid of the rest.

LOL @ everyone knocking my 200 shots.
Diversq how many shots did you take before you submit this one?
I don't average 200, I was saying to him to go shoot. With and without dpc I average about 700 a week. LOL

Just remember, you are ALL DOING BETTER THAN ME.
And speaking of number of shots, I took well over 100 shots for my Sound entry (I lost track after a while), and I took roughly 35 of my Liquid entry (but that was with firm visualization in mind to begin with so needed fewer anyhow). However apparently by comparison I'm still a slacker. :) |

I can relate to the excitement of monitoring your submission as it goes thru its rollercoaster ride of collecting votes. Its somewhat akin to a junkie clawing himself as he awaits his next score (excuse the pun)....
But why one would ever be glued to the monitor, constantly refreshing the stats, solving equations to find the mark cast by each consecutive annonymous voter is beyond me... that'd be kinda like the junkie tracking the weight fluctuations of his dealer... or something?
Such energy might be put to better use working on the current challenge!!!
Just trying to understand...

@buck some people (myself some days included) spend HOURS on this site - in between ranting at the mouth and chatting at the Fanatics chat room, we need something to do and a lot of people refresh from work to keep their day moving.

That happenned to me last challenge. My image was at 6 approx. after 30 plus votes and maintained that plus/minus 0.2 for a few hours. Then within one hour and approx. 7 or 8 votes it dropped a full half a point. Sort of a voting anomoly. After that little burp it slowly crept up 0.2 appxox. after all week. Not only that, I didn't receive one really negative comment. Weird.
I'm quite pleased with where I am overall in the stats. I'm slowly getting better.....I'd rather that than get one lucky shot and then go back into the basement later. That would be a real let down.

I shot about 200 over the course of 2 evenings. You should have seen the setup I had stuff taped to chairs holding mini-mag flashlights trying to get the lighting. Funny thing is I got so wraped up in the setup I think I lost my focus on what I was trying to show liquid. Well at least I have learned something already from this challenge. |
