hmm...been out of touch for a while...I have my maps printed and even checked them to make sure...I think. However, Dani, who was out, then in, then out again, now half back in the house but dogs are in house full time and also my mom's puppy is here as well until the 20th, I don't think I can make it unless I find someone to watch the dogs all day. And they do need to be watched. Seems all I have been doing lately is dog sit. Still working on it. |

Okay, did finally talk to Terry (hubby) and his first response was, "Well, why can't you take the kids and Melissa could watch James there?"
"Umm, well, gee, the idea is to get some "ME" time and get away from the kids, who I have been around and with for MONTHS on end now, unlike you who spent a week in the hospital kicking back and relaxing!" (He had an obstructed bowel, except for the first 36 hours he was fine)
"Oh, you're right, you're right, sorry!"

At Taughannock it's awhile. The official note is 3/4 mile and the falls is 215' high. Unfortunately that's about the only thing to see there. At Robert Treman there's a series of falls and a few large ones.
"The park has numerous waterfalls along a rigorous 4.5-mile round-trip hike. Like many of the state parks in the Finger Lakes region, the hiking trails follow a small creek (Enfield Creek, in this case), giving many views of the rock formations in the deep, narrow gorge (Enfield Glen). A natural swimming pool is located at the easternmost waterfall, "Lower Falls." A large (over 100 ft. high), multi-tiered cascading waterfall, "Lucifer Falls," is a short hike from the top (western) part of the park."
That's about RT.

COOL! I have to hit those as well. I'm open for what ever on the 16th. I can always go shoot Taughannock by myself.

No. That won't do. Many of us have been to all of these places.
As Mavrik indicated, Treman is a "hike"...and that's fine with me.
Taughannock, on the other hand, is a stroll...and that's fine with me.
I just like getting out with others.
I say, let the "tourists" help decide. (And even though Taughannock isn't quite Yosemite, it is the highest fall east of the Mississippi, if I'm not mistaken--of course, we could always drive to the overlook so the visitors can say they've seen it....)
So far, I'm in for the 8th and 16th.
Can pack a lunch--lots of pretty picnic spots at most proposed shooting locations. Have cooler, will travel. |

I just want to say that I haven't been to any of the places you're talking about even though I've lived in Elmira for going on 8 years now, I've been to Ithaca, the college and the Stuart Park but not much else. I'm really looking forward to seeing what's up there because being from Montana I really miss the wilderness and nature.

We've had a little bit of rain the past couple of weeks, so there will be some. It won't be gushing, but there will be enough for some interesting photography. Also, the forecast looks like rain starting Thursday and going through the weekend, so that will help. But the weather channel usually reverses itself in that amount of time, so we'll see. Unless it's just miserable, we're still planning to meet rain or shine on Saturday. |

Okay, I'm on hold again for the moment. I swear, I hate my life, I'm ready to sell everything I own except my van and just go live on the road again. I hate this sometimes.

May be using the gas money for groceries instead |

If it's a question of gas money, there are folks coming from your direction that you might be able to hitch a ride with. I don't want to volunteer anybody, but it may be worth looking into. |

If the forecast is still rain on Friday for Saturday, I'll probably bow out. It's a long drive to stand in the rain (and most of my equipment is not waterproof!)
If so, maybe I can figure out a way to get there for the 16th instead.

It's not just gas money, it's the fact that there is a very good chance that if something doesn't get straightened out today I will be working weekends. I know I can get a job tomorrow if I need to (a regular paying job) and the only time I can guarantee a babysitter is on the weekends. So I may be working!

Is there a list of people for each day? I'm interested to know who is planning to go on the 16th.

It's 3908 miles (as the crow flies) from Geneva to Ithaca. You'd better leave early. ;-P |
