Well I think best thing is just to go for the 30th August and look at subsequent dates after that one is over!
I've lost track of who is coming though!
And haven't even thought about where we're meeting or what we're doing!!!!
Anyone?

For your list, my other half Kate is coming as well (username Eliza). |

I am coming and maybe my husband too.
As far as where to go : one of the many markets(camden, portabello road etc, highgate cemetary, richmond kew gardens & hampton court palace, kensington & chelsea (for the posh shots :) greenwich (the view from across the thames is gorgeous!), hampstead village & heath, little venice & maida vale....
Just some ideas. These locations are spread all over london, but if we decide on one or two key places, I'm sure we can find other things in that area or nearby to occupy ourselves with.

I love Camden Market - I've been going since I was a kid though the areas of the market which interest me have changed over the years...
I'd love to do a photoshoot there and have thought of it often but just never done it!

How about several places along the Thames... go boat hopping? Maybe Windsor as well... The whole stretch from Greenwich to Windsor has loads of stuff! |

BobLob :)
That's a good idea. I think you can get tickets that allow you to hop on and off too. I will poke around the internet tonight and see what's available.

Camden would be fun, I think. I hope to make it.

Topping for reminding and seeing if anyone else wants to come and whether Camden works for people or somewhere else?

Hopefully see you all next Saturday... :-)

I am!
Is Camden OK?
I've just enrolled for a writing course and I'm intending to base my first assignment on wherever we go, I think London would fit in well for me. I'll take photographs too, of course!

Camden should be great... I used to go there loads when I was a teenager. |

Yeah I did too.
But I still do.
I've found that over the last 15-20 years Camden has retained my interest but that the parts of the market which interest me have changed.
Once upon a time I loved the funky second hand clothes and cheap silver jewellery. I went through a phase where I was more into the new clothes - clothes that were often a few months or a season or two ahead of the high street trends. Then I came to prefer the areas selling inexpensive but attractive crafts. These days I still enjoy the crafts but also like the areas towards the back selling higher cost furniture as well as antiques and imported items from all around the world.

Well, I'd still go quite regularly I think, but I haven't lived in London for a while... and I used to live in Swiss Cottage which wasn't too far away.
I've been back a few times, it'll be nice to see how it's changed recently.
Is it a good idea at this stage to get confirmation of who's going to be there this weekend? |

Damn, another date when I'm working - I guess that's one of the problems of working when others are playing though, huh?
Hope it's a great day for you all

OK everyone who expressed interest in the August 30th GTG has been contacted, and asked to respond here on the thread.
This is what I sent:
I am trying to work out a plan for the DPC GTG in London this Saturday.
First of all need to know who is still intending to make it.
Secondly, I hope everyone is OK with the current plan to meet at and photograph Camden market.
I also need to know FAST whether or not people want to meet for lunch - if we do I need to find and book somewhere now because on the day we won't find anywhere that can seat a group without reservations.
I'm thinking we can meet for lunch at around 12.30 or after lunch at around 1.30 to 2.00 pm and then take some nice pics and stroll around, and then stop for drinks in some local pub or cafe.
No hard and fast dinner plans - those who want to can decide and arrange such when we're together.
Are you in?
If so, let me know about your preferences, preferably on the DPC thread itself.

Im very sorry to say that I wont be able to make it this weekend. Really sorry guys but an unexpected wedding last weekend forced me to change my plans.
I hope everyone has a great day and I'll do my best to be there for the next one.

Sorry Kavey,
Have started up lectures again (do them on weekends cause I work), and was originally free on the 30th, but I have a double booking on the 6th so have to do a lecture on the 30th (am doubly pissed off now). If you are thinking of changing to 20th of September (would be no good either for me - lectures again).
Hopefully I will be able to manage the next one.
PS - hope you all got some good carnival pictures. |

Not intending to change date now as there are a number of us who can make it but will hopefully hold more GTGs through the year!
Sorry you won't be able to join us again!
