I'm looking for some comments/criticism regarding my Delicate entry. Although I did at least break a 5, I was kind of hoping this one would do a little better.
One thing I noticed is that the white area around the eye looks a little blown. Could I fix that with some brightness/contrast adjustment or some other method? Also, I was wondering if the border wasn't well received.

For me, this photo lacks a sense of delicacy. I can see how fish are delicate, yet that is not the sense I get from looking at the photo. This fish as big, loudly colored, somewhat spikey and quite possibly able to bite my hand off! I'm guessing that a number of voters felt that maybe you didn't meet the challenge as well as you could have.
Also, as someone pointed out in your comments, the focus feels a bit off, like maybe it hit on the upper righthand corner and not on the face/eye.
Still though, a neat shot. I know how hard it is to get a decent aquarium shot. |
