Did you also want them to be able to pay for the safari?
...
For my wishlist, I'd like to be able to afford a safari. ;) |

Sent you a PM as well...would love to go. Gotta see if I can save the cash for a better camera and the cost of a trip. If you get enough people interested, my day job is as a corporate travel agent. I have already emailed our vacations department to see if they can suggest who would offer the best rates/discounts for a group to travel to Kenya.

Great idea! Keep posting folks, I'd like to come across something doable for me to do for someone :-)
mine:
-a decent job with health benefits (preferably in mid-michigan, but would consider relocating for the right opportunity!)
-some work I could do from home, or anything to augment my income
-a wide angle lens for my kodak
-a newer 'puter (mine is an old pentium II dinosaur)
-books on Christianity (for example, I really liked C.S. Lewis' 'Mere Christianity' and 'Pilgrim's Regress' |

Thanks for the email Lynn.
Actually I have been on a Safari while visiting Mombassa back in my Navy days.
Visited Tsavo National Park East for a day, cruised around in a VW bus with an open roof, and darn near fell out when the driver had to take off in a real hurry when we were charged by some elephants. Picture me danging off the side of the bus (had been sitting on the roof, legs inside the opening), one arm hooked inside the opening, me & a camera banging around and everyone trying to pull me back in. Scared the crap out of me. Some day I will return.

Originally posted by Rikki: this might be too late but I adopted a family for Christmas (have you guys heard about this program?) Basically they have a wish list and I try to meet all of them as much as I can. If anyone is interested let me know. I have the letter at my office though so it might be a little too late... I think. They've asked for small things like books for the 2 year old son, some socks, shirts, etc. Pretty much basic stuff. The mom is a single parent working two jobs to make ends meet. So far, I've already bought them some small items (blankets, sweaters) and I also got them a $75 gift certificate at Safeway so they can go there on Christmas eve and pick up a pre-ordered Christmas meal

What program was this through? Maybe you could provide a link for others if you like the program. (though I think most families will be taken by now.
My wife and I do volunteer work with the Salvation Army, their Angel Tree program does something similar to this. I'd post a link, but their web page doesn't tell you anything really, have to contact your local Salvation Army.

what a wonderful idea.
I've just bought a used rebel 300D off ebay and I am over the wall about it.
So...
1. Any good advice on the 300D. (definitaly needed)
2. The Rebel 300D field guide
3. Any used equiptment compatible with cannon.
4. Used copies of National Geographic.
5. DPC Membership. (Hopefully someday...)
I hope I can buy something for someone else. I shall definitaly try my hardest to come up with something.

I am wishing for a Pembroke Welsh Corgi female puppy....I was heartbroken when we had to give up the puppy we had already named and picked out....she got bitten by a neighborhood dog when she was in the care of one of the breeder's children....it was like losing a child... |

my Wish List :
- A monopod like alfresco has - it is actually a rifle monopod that the top unscrews from and then doubles as a camera monopod. I think he said it is made by Polecat?
- If there is a good Lasik surgeon on DPC - would like to get lasik done on my eyes so I can actually see good enough to take decent shots. I'm willing to travel. :-)
- A Canon 20D - if any you folks buying the 5D have a spare 20D now that needs a new home I promise to take good care of it.
- an external flash for my 300D
- A ribbon here on DPC - any color but brown.
now I'm going to see if there are any wishes others have that I can fulfill.
Linda

If there is anyone in need of a poem or small story, I am willing to help in anyway. I have one wish and that is to get a new camera, nikon 70D or canon 20D. Thanks Jeff
