Wow! What an incredible offer MK! I've had a domain/hosting for almost a year now just to put up a simple gallery, and with much frustration I've never been able to get it up. Any little bit of help or direction (if it's not too much trouble) would be extremely nice! Many thanks in advance MK. :-) |

Yes, I'd be glad to offer whatever help I can if you already have your own site, keeping in mind two things: 1. I'm certainly no expert. 2. My time is apt to be a bit more limited as we get to the holidays. But feel free to shoot me an email, anyone, at mk at hyperbolical dot org and we'll see what we can do. :) |

I have a domain, and I have Dreamweaver, and I can do simple, stupid stuff no problem, but I haven't a clue how to create one of those really nice galleries. My site's just an out-of-date parking orbit right now. Can anyone build me a template I can use to spin off more and more pages on this site?
//www.robtward.com and please don't laugh ok?

I have a never-used copy of Elements 3.0 still in shrink wrap that came with my 20D for anyone that needs it.

Is your site hosted on a server that uses Unix, or Microsoft? Pixelpost is free -- kind of utilitarian, but somewhat customizable if you want to spend the time on it. If you have a Unix site I can see if I can help walk you through setting up Pixelpost on it. It's not that hard. It makes a 'photo a day' style photoblog, with sortable archives. My photo blog at //www.newness-of-life.com/photo uses it.
P.S. I went to Yosemite yesterday and took 170 pictures. Kept about 30, and posted I think four in my portfolio. Good times. :) |

Damned if I know. I suppose someone can figure it out from looking at the site info. It's "fasthosts" in the UK I believe.

Drat. It's MS-based. I am clueless about ASP and the like. |

Thanks MK and DirtyPainter, I'm clueless at this stuff (and lots of other things). I'm not sure what I have to offer in return that you would actually want, but I'll think of something. Thanks again. |

i have several Photoshop 5.0 and Photoshop 6.0 books and also the book "Grokking the GIMP" that i can offer for someone's Christmas wish list. that's really the only photography related itemsi have. if someone has some non-photography related things on their list, i'll see if i can fill some wishes.
for my own list, i would love to have my own flash-based website, a logo for my soap making business (Rather Lathery), and some song downloads from iTunes or a subscription to Rhapsody. of course, a dSLR goes without saying but that is WAAAY too much to ask for.
edit to add: i would also like to find a job doing photo editing or photo restoration. or, i'm good with numbers and spent my whole working life in accounting and finance...an at-home job doing bookkeeping or typing would be great. doesn't have to be anything big, i'd just like to make some extra money to buy a dSLR.

Matt, would you mind giving me some details on this? I'm not definite I can afford it before christmas, but I'm also pretty sure anyone who does have it can't just pass it on as it's a media download job.
But if you could let me know that would be great and I'll weigh up me options and let you know...
Thanks

jpochard: have you tried NAPBIRT for a tenor sax? I can try to find a contact in ohio if you like... my only suggestion (other than the one sat in my parents house in bournemouth) is to go 2nd hand, and if you get it from a qualified repairer you'll be in better hands...
Just a thought...

It sounds like Telehubbie already has hosting and just needs help, which I am glad to do as well. I don't think he needs an account, though. (Let me know if I'm wrong, T.) |
