I have been looking at the shuttle computer cases a bit and have a question. On a system like this //www.mpx.no/aspx/produkt/prdinfovnet.aspx?plid=49609#
Is it correct to say I have to buy my own processor, ram and HD.. otherwise everything is there?

The way I understand those systems, and I looked at them not too long ago, it will arrive with the case, a motherboard, and a very small power supply. All other components, such as the chip, RAM, any drives, floppy, disk, or hard drives will need to be purchased separatly, along with sound card, video card, keyboard, mouse, and so on.
The only reason I wouls use one of these shuttle's was if space was a serious factor. There isn't much room for expansion.

- but they are awesome, extremely quiet, most have onboard soundcard, card readers etc, so you really don't need that much expandability and there is also the USB ports which most devices are available, and you would be surprised what you can fit into one actually. the SN25P can handle 3 harddrives.
I have the SN25P XPC model, and am now considering buying the SB83G5M for my lounge as a media centre PC.
I use mine for design, web dev, games and have no issues. it is an excellent pc.

i've built 5 shuttle systems and they are cool!
for a small form factor pc they have the best cooling system.
They have on board sound and many have video.
i have a 64bit athalon system media center working flat out and is amazing! |

These are great rigs...built quite a few myself.
Yes you would need Processor, Ram, HD and CD/DVD... If you have to have floppy drive get a USB one and throw it in the drawer when not in use.
One thing for sure with the Shuttles is that they have the best darn instructions for putting it all together. I think my pop-in-law could have put the one I build him together. |
