Would be cool to have a feature that would detect when someone posts any of the following suggestions and instead of posting, it gives them a list of all the threads that have come before them:
- Larger Image Sizes
- Forced comments on low votes
- Change the voting scale / method
Any others?

If there are that many threads why isn't anything changing?
Maybe we need to put in a suggestion to remove the suggestion forum.
Edited to remove jibberish

If you look at most of them they always end in favor of not changing anything. There are exceptions - for example the debate about too many entries in a challenge ended up causing the new Exclusive Open Challenges running concurrently which most people like, I think.
It's always worth bringing up. |

It would be cool to have a people feature that would make them check to see if the post two slots down was the same thing they were going to post. :)
We actually talked about something similar to this for all posts - where the system basically scans your message and suggests a bunch of othe threads/faqs/tutorials, whatever before you can post. Even with all the duplicates, I'm against this. My webhost has this sort of system and it's so annoying. It picks out one or two key words and then tries to make me read a tutorial on what email is or something else ridiculous and completely unrelated. I think all those things serve to do is annoy the people who actually make an effort to begin with.
That being said, it would be nice if people could take 30 seconds to see if a post has already been made about their topic. I'm not talking about dragging up something from 8 months ago that's only vaguely related...I'm talking about the ones that are still on the same page and were just posted 13 hours ago. |

Perhaps, we should do what many forums do, and add a few sticky threads in the various relevent forums. |

We do some of that here and here. The problem isn't usually lack of available information, it's lack of desire to look for it. There's not a whole lot we can do to overcome that, I don't think. |

What about maybe figuring out what all the main questions that are reposted over and over and let people volunteer to research each one and find as many threads and info as they can on it. Then have a FAQ section for the forum on the main page. If people don't look through these and post the same question either lock it or delete it.
I am not one to complain but it is ridiculous and annoying to see so many of the same post coming up over and over again. |

I wonder how often this FAQ link gets used? Perhaps a little expansion of the existing FAQ page would work... Then again, you have to think of looking for it first before posting. Not sure it would help much but it may eliminate a few duplicates and more importantly, answer some questions for people in the DPChallenge community.

Yeah...what he said! It is a little annoying when you see two threads created within minutes of each other on the same topic, like this morning - two threads on Username changes.
I agree with MK - I frequent a board that does this and it is annoying to get directed to something that is unrelated just because you typed a specific word.
I think there are two things that drive the duplicates - laziness (can't take a few seconds to use the search feature) and an overinflated ego (people think that they are or their threads are just too important to not post). |

This does have some of them and might work to add to it, but there are so many others like "what lens" "what camera" "where do I sell my shots" "what lighting equipment" "studio setups" etc. I wonder if it would help to post the FAQ link at the top of the news in BIG red letters with an note saying if you post a question covered in here it will be locked or deleted. |
