Help! I don't want to get too far before I decide on a picture for our new business card. I haven't ruled out using two cards - one for fun, one for elegant, but I want your opinions (cards aren't done so I don't need to know what info to put on them - just the text/picture combos).

Thanks!

I prefer the second of the two options - The multi coloured one would hide the text you need to add and I think the second one allows that to stand out a little more. The web-site is more for the gallery stuff IMO.

I would make the text colour a little more distinctive on the second.

I like the second one ... can't really find anything wrong with the first one but the second one just appeals more to me.

Thanks for the thoughts - I am putting my info on the back of the card. I get two-sided glossy cards from GotPrint.com So this is ALL that's going on front, just to be clear. :)

usually I'm a bw fiend, but I adore the colour of the first one and it would stand out in my mind among the photographers cards I have.

IMO, there is not a question, the B/W... Its classy, its not too busy, and its not detracting of the objective; whereas the first is none or all of those things depending on how you look at it. Great shot, just not a b-card!

is it only wedding photography that you are doing?
12/13/2005 02:43:49 PM · #9
I'm not afraid, I like the first one (ducks and covers)

It's wedding photography not funeral photography so I'd respond better to the first.

IMO, as a business card, the second one rings a little closer to home. The Flowers seem a little busy and off message.

The couple looking at the card title and smiling have a very positive suggestive message. It says "I'm happy about our choice in Picture Infinity Studios", and immediately brings to ones attention that you are doing wedding photography.

These cards are just for potential wedding clients yes. We also have a portrait/family card but that's not here yet. :)

Okay but I would still say the second for the more classic look.

I don't see anything wrong with having them both printed. mabey half and half. they both are very well done.
just my 2 cents

Thanks - that's sorta the direction I think we're going to go... :)

*back to grind* lol

IMHO I would maybe remove the bevelling on the tecxt. to me it can look a bit cheap.

I do like both images. And maybe the 1st one grabs attention more although more cluttered than the more simple second one. Hard to choose.

So you are going to have a different card for each type of service? How does that work out with the printing cost?
12/13/2005 03:10:34 PM · #16
Cost:

500 of each: $80.
1000 of one: $50.

So it's minimally significant, but...

1000 of each: $100.
2500 of one: $100.

lol what did i say yesterday
here are some flowers...duh
this is the bride and groom...again

wheres the brat?

I love the flowers shots even if others thing the other more is more traditional. Its bright and fun and it gets my attention. It also says a lot about who you are as a photographer. Your photos are full of color and you use color to stamp photos with your individual style.

Yeah yeah the other one looks cool too, but I love adore the flowers and have since the weekend when you showed me the photos lol

I really don't know what to tell you because I like them both. They are both nice IMO. Use both.

I like the sepia tone one. Very nice shots!

#2 gets my vote.

I do have a comment though, I'm in the communications/publications industry and one of the first things they taught us regarding job hunting was not to have glossy cards. Some of the most valuable information in a business arrangement will first be written on the back of a business card. Seeing as how this is photography, I'd agree with 1 glossy side but I think it is worth having the other side 'writeable'.

Just a thought.

I like the second one best. It looks more professional to me. Is that a photo you took, Mavrik? If it is you should be using that on the front of your site.
12/13/2005 04:50:41 PM · #24
Thanks Bren!

Yes we took that photo - we are changing our website in the next two weeks so I haven't changed photos. You don't like our front page b/w? :) We are 'famous' for three photos - that bw is one of them, so we use it on a lot of advertisements.

Like them both!
The classic one is the wedding couple--seems you have room on the front for the rest of the information.
But...I'd like the one with flowers if the info went on the back of the card. Even though it's "wedding" it would work for other engagements as well. Just more expensive than the first.
