Just resized to suit dpchallenge.

After going to the church today, I took some pictures with my new Nikon D200. These are the images I came across on my way home. The pictures are not post-processed (just resized). I took some portraits but was unsuccessful. No good model...just plenty of very dynamic kids in the church. I will try again tomorrow.

Lens for all of these is 50 mm macro/ f2.8. Manual mode, f stop varies.

None of these will be in the challenge because I just discovered that my date was January 25, 2005. I will soon delete these in my portfolio. Just posting these for many people who would like to see the results of D200.

My comment: I LIKE IT. Very smooth to the hands. Easy to use. The LCD are big...can delete unsharp pictures right away as you can see it. BUT...since I am a portrait person, I still have to reserve my important verdict til I try portrait shots...which will be tomorrow.

I wanna see other D200 results.

Dang, you're gonna be even deadlier now. Does this camera have a "veil" or "shawl" setting like the D70 did? jejejeĆ¢„Ā¢

Manny, can you post a couple of 100% crops from these - I think people will like to see detail and sharpness &c?

I hope I could. Maybe at my pbase account. Will try it tomorrow. My internet at home is a dial-up so it would probably take forever to post one pic.

Doesn't have to be the whole thing though - could be a 640x crop from the full thing?

Hahahaha...Okay, lemme see...Veil Setting...yes....there is...but there's a custom setting...it says...doesn't work in dpchallenge anymore...:)))

Anyway, I will defy the odds. Or maybe, will try to adapt. Let's see what's in 2006?

None of the pics are super sharp...I am using a 2.8-4.5 f stop mainly. And I have no tripod. Will post more samples tomorrow from my portrait sessions.

Hey Manny,

Welcome to the D200 Club !! I wanted to thank you (and everyone else) who advised me, in a previous post, to go for a D70 update instead of buying more lense.
I'm so happy with my D200, It feels really great in hands !
Anyway, do you also feel that this D200 is more demanding that the D70 as far as technique and sharpness is concerned ? I really have to be more steady and relaxed to archive super sharp shots handheld, or of course use a tripod. I guess it's because of the 10 Mpixels, more resolution means an emphasis of camera shake.
Anyway, nice shots !! still have some work to do to be up to the task :)

Edit: minor spelling mistakes :)

I thought so. But I have a different observation. Since the LCD is so big, we can immediately see that the shot is unsharp thus, we become disappointed. We feel it is not as sharp as the D70 or D70s. I think it is almost the same. Still have to work on portraits tomorrow and see the results. Otherwise, I think I really need to buy a tripod this time.

I'm going nuts here. Out of about 60 plus images posted on the net, I have yet to see any serious sharpness...well, maybe a few are in the ballpark but nothing staggering.

My only assumtion is that people aren't used to the camera yet...weight, feel etc.

I hope to have mine within a few days if I'm lucky.

It's tomorrow in Japan - or is Yesterday in the US? My favorite day is coming up - 1 JAN when I can call family "last year"
