Wow! Reminds me of the time I was abducted by aliens.

Congrats on being cured, Robert! I'd trade death for a fear of needles anyday. Congrats on your top 20 finish also!

What does that mean - "chimp it"?

Thanks.

Chimping is to look at your shot in the display after you take it. Properly, it is to look at your shot each and every time you take a photo...

As far as the results go, I was overall happy with how they ended up. My only 10 and only 9 in the competition came in 1st and 3rd, so that isn't bad. The rest of the Top 10 was ranked with 1 eight, 5 sevens, and a 6 and a 5. I will agree with the original poster that the 5 came from 9th place because I felt it did not "convey" fear. I didn't feel what the phobic person would feel.

To contrast it, Bennan's clown picture made me understand how a person with clown phobia would feel even though they don't bother me at all. His shot was my 10 because it managed to take a semi-ordinary subject and twist it into something evil, which is what phobia is all about.

You know, I was just thinking about this... I wonder how many other entrants in this challenge actually conquered or confronted an actual phobia of their own to make their image? Shouldn't I get some sort of special ribbon for that? jejejeĆ¢„Ā¢

I think you will find there are many that chose the fear that they feel most....as to how many conquered it because of the image....I don't think there would have been too many...depending on how strong their fear was.

Thanks for the response to the 'chimping' question DrAchoo and toiletboy99999. As for the sportsshooter.com link...the video file is 38mb! With a 40k connection I'll have to take your word on it. ;^)

By the way, I rarely 'chimp'...maybe I should start. He-he.

I chose my phobia shot just for the I-can-make-others-feel-their-stomach-twist factor and not because I have a fear of heights. Looking down the sides of buildings for three hours definitely made me nervous. The problem I had was picking a shot when I got home from the 300 odd shots I took. I'd look at the images and think, "that doesn't make my stomach twist." I had to rely on my editor (read as WIFE).
