Hello everyone. I'll be posting photos as I process them. So far I've processed a few but given the fact that we have a Free Study for January, I am holding off on some of them. However, I do have some that might entice you to follow this thread. As soon as I post a Free Study image, I will post the rest here. Critiques and comments are always welcome. Thanks.

Yeah too bad marac that we weren't able to meet up. Pug-H and I had a great time shooting in Nikko. Quite cold but fun nonetheless. Next time I'm there, we'll definitely have to plan so that you and Hanae can come and join us ;) |

just read this one:
Youngest Son: "Tell me Daddy, what is the difference between
"Potentiality"
and "Reality"?"
Dad: "I will show you"
Dad turns to his wife and asks her: "Would you sleep with Robert
Redford
for 1 million dollars"?
Wife: "Yes of course! I would never waste such an opportunity"...
Then Dad asks his daughter, if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for 1
million
dollars?
Daughter:" Wow! Yes! he is my fantasy!"
So Dad turns to his elder son and asks him: "Would you sleep with Tom
Cruise for 1 million dollars"?
Elder Son: "Yeah! Why not? Imagine what I could do with 1 million
Dollars!
I would never hesitate!"
So the father turns back to his younger son saying: "You see son,
"Potentially" we are sitting on 3 million dollars, but in "Reality" we
are
living with 2 prostitutes and 1 gay. |

Rikki,
I'll see your Maiko and raise you a Geisha from my time in Kyoto this past October.
Unfortunately, I didn't take the picture. The friend I was traveling with took it. |

Bill: Actually if I am not mistaken she is a Maiko and not a Geisha. A simple telltale is the color of her collar. Geisha wear (plain) white collars on their under kimono which is a sign of maturity.
Secondly, the Obi of a Maiko is longer and is tied much higher on a Maiko, coming high into the armpit and the knot almost reaches the collar.
Although you're right, she isn't wearing the more flambouyant colors that Maiko-san wears. |

Thanks Cindi! I have more to post so follow this thread folks ;)
Some of the editing I've done are somewhat new to me. Any comments would be great. I'll return comments for every comment received. Wouldn't you like a change of pace from voting in the Free Study?
Thanks in advance.
Rikki

Rikki got some great shots. They bring back such fond memories of living in Okinawa for 8 years. What beautiful people and such an interesting culture. I will try to comment on some a bit later. I need more coffee first. |

Thanks for the comments Bren and Marc. I will be returning comments later today ;) Yeah it was fun shooting these images and especially the ones at the Futarasan Shrine in Nikko. Such color, extravagance and lavishness not seen today. The detailing is exquisite and stunning. |

Looks like you used these lens for most of your shots:
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Tamron AF 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di LD Aspherical IF for Canon
Did you bring extra lenses that you didn't use? Did you bring a tripod?
