Couldn't agree more - seems a very low scoring vote at the moment. I'm sitting at around 3.8 with 40 odd scores and yet not one single comment. I truly don't think my entry is that bad - and if people are scoring it that low I'd really like to know why?
I'll admit it's not a literal interpretation of the word sign - but, as many others I think, I figured there'd be far more scope for a creative interpretation here with no specific description given. |

Wow, I didn't enter this one, but I do have to say that DPC is not boring when it comes to challenge entries! It was a pretty tough challenge to vote on, so good luck to you all!

I keep going up and down. I don't think I am going to get anywhere near a 6 this time. My picture is of a sign. I was afraid to go out of the box like some other creative entries. Didn't help though. |

| I really don't get this. I have three comments all of which are extremely positive and each saying they voted either 8,9 or10....yet my score has now once again dipped below 5 with just under 50 votes. I wish I was getting some sort of feedback as to why those that are voting low are doing so. My entry was actually semi creative and not just a picture of a literal sign. I can't figure it out. Are they voting low for not meeting challenge, disliking my subject material, or are they finding technical faults (which is possible because there is depth of field in my image that people may just consider to be out of focus). |

I was going for a "mood" with my pic this time. It definitely fits the challenge. I guess the "mood" the voters are getting is Bad Picture.

Not everyone who votes comments. What's more, images around 5 generally get few comments. I give 4/5/6 scores for average shots or under/above average. Most of them don't inspire me to any comment. That's why commentors' votes may differ significally from the average vote. |

| Well i have to say.. I didn't see many outstanding shots but i saw a lot of fine once and i gave 6-8 to those.. and 3 - 5 to those who arent all that good.. |

I pulled my entry for a couple of reasons. I was going to enter for laughs and knew it would be scored low. After my last 2 entries scoring so low I didn't want to bring my average down any more. Also with as bad as my Photo for 2005 is scoring. :)
I also figured it would get a lot of negative comments like "dirty old man" and such. I am sure if I saw this and didn't know who wrote it I would think the same thing. The man who did this was in no way a dirty old man but a man who loved life and loved making people laugh. The last 3 years of my fathers life he lived by a lake and we would go down at least once a month and spend the weekend. We took a bunch of people down over memorial weekend and could not believe it when we drove up and saw this sign. We have had many laughs about it since. My dad passed away last Feb. and I now treasure this sign because it reminds me of how much fun we had with him his last few years.

Doing good so far, especially looking at some of the other scores. I just don't get why there aren't more comments, but I guess I can't complain too much with my highest score. :)

I enjoyed seeing this, thanks for posting.
Although I can understand the GPA fears, I wish more people would let their hair down. Maybe there should be a whole separate category for goofy and out-of-the-box challenges (where if you post glossy, serious, or conformist work, you get dmnc. Ha!)

Started at a 6 last night, was at a 5.1 this morning and now at a 5.6. I love the favorite. Only my second. (To me, as good as a ribbon.) |
