Patriots messed up this year, so I won't be watching!

I predict the Seahawks 24-21. I have been a Seahawk fan for 30 years. This has been a long time coming. While some of my fair weather fans would be calling them "Sea Chickens" during the bad times, of which there were plenty, I was always faithful to watch and cheer. On Super Bowl Sunday, I'll be right in front of my TV watching and cheering like always.

Here is my analysis:

Quarterback: Though Hasselbeck has been very consistent this year and in the post season, I have to give the edge in this category to Big Ben. Rothlisberger has matured in the last year and shown himself to be a big game player and winner. After this season, he might be the new Mr. Clutch (as Tom Brady and the Patriots slide back to obscurity). I like his core of receivers a little better too.
Edge: STEELERS

Running Game: While you gotta love the Bus and Willie Parker, nobody can deny that Shaun Alexander is just magic on the field. There's no stopping this guy, and how Pitt's defense decides to tackle this issue might decide the outcome of the superbowl.
Edge: SEAHAWKS

Defense: Both these teams bring a great defense to the game and both have been decent through the playoffs. The Seahawks secondary has been questioned this season, but they completely shut down Steve Smith, who torched the Bears a week earlier. I'm giving the edge to the Steelers here though, by virtue of their slight edge in turnovers through the regular season, as well as their swarming blitz style, which forces opposing offenses into costly mistakes at key times.
Edge: STEELERS (slight)

Special Teams: Again, very close per the stats though the Steelers got two scores off kick returns during the regular season (Seattle got none). Both teams are very well coached in the kicking game so I'm calling this one a draw.
Edge: EVEN

Coaching: These are two very experienced, very saavy coaches. Both are legendary in their ability to construct game plans which frustrate their opponents. Needless to say, they're two very, very well coached teams. I give the edge to Holmgren purely because I think Cowher's head is going to explode during a game one of these days.
Edge: SEAHAWKS

Intangibles: Both coaches have been here before. Both teams are peaking at the right time. The Steelers have won three tough road games, defying the oddsmakers every step of the way. Can they keep it up? The Seahawks have no real weaknesses other than some potential question marks in their defense, all of which were answered yesterday. Then there is the fact that this is Bettis' last game, and in his hometown of Detroit no less. I don't give those emotional factors much credence, but it'll help fire the Steelers up. I have to give the intangible edge to Seattle. I think Holmgren will have them more ready for this game than Cowher will the Steelers. In the end, it will be Rothlisberger's youth and the rock solid running game of Seattle that will prevail.
Edge: SEAHAWKS

Prediction: Seahawks 23 Steelers 21. Game will be won in the final two mintues of the game.

I have to admit that this will be a good one....but I'm definitely going with the Steelers.

Too feel the Steelers all the way... and tons of beer and pizza here in Colorado!

Seahawks go up early. Steelers are forced out of their gameplan and have to play catchup. They give a valiant effort, but never gain the lead.

Seahawks 27 Steelers 17

I predict I don't know much about football, but Seattle is a kick ass city, probably my favorite. Therefore I will be hoping will all my heart that the Seahawks dominate the Steelers.

Steelers over seahawks 27-24 - it will not be decided until the las 2 minutes, and may very well do into overtime - Cowher's gameplan has been to keep it close til the fourth, and play a 15 minute game.

Besides, it'll keep the fans there watching all the overpriced commercials!

I've got to agree with Strangeghost... 23-21 in favor of the Hawks would be a very good prediction. Any way you cut it, it's going to be a great game I'm amazed my first Super Bowl I actually attend has the Hawks in it.

Go Seahawks and I'll see y'all there!

Keep it close? We dominated the last two teams the whole game....last night it wasn't even close, ever.

Please realize Bad Boy that you are basically saying the best team in the NFC is worse than the sixth best team in the AFC. Not only are they worse, you say, but they are a lot worse.

I'm guessing either it will be a good game, or having played the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd seed will finally have taken its toll on Pittsburgh.

But listen, if I still lived in Pittsburgh, I'd be talking trash too. That is, until P-town's habit of choking catches up and the Monday after the Super Bowl has terrible traffic because everybody is jumping off the Veteran's Bridge. That was bad enough when they lost to Philly last year...

Wow! The below analysis almost matches the "experts" opinion of leading into yesterdays game. Look what happened.

Can't say that I've kept up this year but these guys (Seahawks) are the real deal this year and everyone continues to underrate them. Must be a east coast / west coast thing.

Seahawks by 20.

Pittsburgh's record doesn't reflect their abilities though, really. A couple of those losses were largely due to Ben being out and Maddox being in..

Not trash talking..it's a fact! The AFC is leaps and bounds better than the NFC. The Colts were picked to win the the whole thing...they got spanked by who...? The Steelers!

As far as the Steelers choking...how many championships has seattle won or actually been in? Seattle has been a no name team for 30 years....1 good season and face the facts. Seattle is the dog in this one. If the Steelers can stop Manning and Edge, they can stop Seattle.

I love how people are bandwagon fans of their teams. Kind of like Cinci and all their trash talking.

Oh..the QB rating are updated...check them out Big Ben 124.8. That other guy...109 with a measely 3 Td psases. wow...

Oh and how about you check the teams Seattle beat....Arizone, Philly, Houston, San Fran. All gimmies!
