A Little Update:
I need some more opinions here if you could take a few seconds & post your favorite numbers I'd be most obliged!!! :0) Thanks again everyone, right now it looks like the winners are 1, 8, 3, 4, 6, & 10.

Well, I'm entering my first juried competition and I need some help. Can you tell me which of these images I should pick? I can enter up to 5 photos and these are the categories I̢۪m considering.
Abstract
Scenic- Landscape
Portraits
Animals
Close-Up
Arizona
Open Division
Help me!!! Ahhhh! Which are your favorites? If they all suck feel free to tell me that too ;0)

I'm thinking of keeping all the portriats to have a better chance of winning- seeing as that's what I like to do best...

It's amazing how differently you can feel about your own pics. It's good to have more opinions! I always find that people like the ones I wouldn't have gone for. Eh- maybe I'm just odd :0P

I prefer 3 and 10. 3 shows that you can capture a person well and do more than just a portrait (there is lots of feeling) and 10 is a good "average" shot but with a more than average appeal. I like the look overall...

I really like 1, 5 & 8.
A nitpick or two: Some of the landscapes could use a different crop to move the horizon nearer to the 1/3 line, and your portrait with the long hair could use some softening on the forehead wrinkles.
You have some very nice work. Good luck.

You know, it really depends on the jury. Sometimes it's best to submit all portraits or all landscape (for example) Other Juries want to see a variety. I'm inclinded to encourage you to enter the portraits. They seem to be the stong group in the representation you've posted, and like you said, that's what you like best.
PS, I also like #6! |

This is so great- Like I said I've never done this before so all this info is perfect!
Good ideas too Becky- why do I never crop? :0) These are not prints yet, so this is all doable! 'Cept for the girl with the hair is film so I'd have to scan it first but I suppose it'd be worth it... |

They are all very good but my favorite by far is number 8.

Hmmm...thought I posted here, but I must not have hit post.
Anyway, I like 1, 4, 6 & 7. I'm not a big fan of the baby shot simply because of the background (kind of blah and with wrinkles)...it's a cute shot of the baby, but just not a pro looking shot IMO. All the others have potential, I think, in a contest. Good luck! |

I have looked over each one. They are all very nice photos, but I have some favorites. Your landscape pictures are nice. 7 and 8 have very nice skies, but unfortunately, I would have to agree with ibWhaples on the horizon being low.
I would probably go for 1 or 10 (and I actually think your photo #2 is very good - sharpness and expression of the subject).

Love numbers 4 and 6. Can't you edit number 4 a bit - make the background less distracting - maybe make it black so that the butterfly is the only thing in the photo?

Maybe ask the DPcers to check how they can edit this photo to make it look better;
Common people - What can you do?

I do like the butterfly pic and did some burning on the background but I'm not sure about the editing rules so don't want go overboard. Oddly enough they don't say a thing about it! |

#3 for sure and #5 for abstract but possibly crop 5 to a square to balance it more. |
