Take a photograph using a shutter speed of EXACTLY 2 seconds

whoa.... wont this make many automatic P&S cameras feeling left out?
also, will it be grounds for DQ if found the shot isn't taken with 2 seconds shutter? QUESTIONS!!!

Even my SD400 lets you specify a 2 second exposure. Must be time for an upgrade ;p

Your camera also has the ability to shoot a 2 second exposure in landscape or night mode.

This is a perfect example of what I meant in my post. Instead of complaining or picking apart the challenge as soon as it's posted, put all the energy into creating an image to enter...

Good time for people who haven't tried long exposure to read the manual

This will be a fun challenge - if Rikki doesn't make it too difficult for me heheeeee

According to specs on a couple sites the camera can shoot a 2 sec exposure. It might be hidden in one of the modes, like night or something.

Pardon me?? Was I picking anything apart?? Complaining? I didnt think so.I was trying to express disappointment, sorry if it didnt read that way.

But thank you for your advise. I am sorry I have been really busy at work and the camera is only a couple of weeks old, so I havent had the time I would like to spend mastering it. I am still kind of a noob, guess I am still stupid!! Sorry!!

Sounds like the perfect challenge topic to do a little cheating. :)

No-one will know your actual exposure time till after the challenge anyway.

Not you in particular, just the sites group mentality lately. The challenge wasn't 2 minutes old and someone is already picking it apart...

not shooting 2 seconds would not be grounds for dq -- it just wouldn't be meeting the challenge.

BUT, where is the fun in "cheating?"

BUT sometimes not meeting the specific challenge by something that is very measurable should be a DQ. In most situations it would be impossible to tell the difference between 1/100 sec and 2 sec unless there is motion blur involved. BUT from a voter standpoint it will be impossible to see or inforce if met challenge.

Why set a rule then if your not going to DQ for not being exactly 2 seconds?

Seems to be one of the easiest reasons to DQ someone compared to all the other stuff you have to wade through.

It seems to me this would have been "fairer" if an exposure had been picked of which every camera is capable, such as 1/30 second, or to specify using the "maximum fixed exposure" of which the camera is capable.

I either have to "cheat" or somehow "be creative" as the longest exposure my camera can take is 1/2 second.

I do not suggest setting up a challenge like "400mm Focal Length" ...

Damn, me and Pug got to deal with this in our Challenge? 2-second Cheese this aught to be fun :-)

Your P&S doesn't have Bulb? But seriously, why pick such an exact challenge and not DQ people for not meeting the one requirement?

Nope. One of many things the Olympus D490Z doesn't have ... it's almost 6 years old!

I think the trick here is "deception". Creat a photo where your audience would think your exposure is set to a 2 second exposure indeed. Look at Patrinus' entry in 4-5am. His clearly wasn't taken between that time but the voters thought he did. Not having a 2 second EXIF data shouldn't be grounds for DQ and i agree with SC. Sure it caused an uproar after the fact but hey, isn't photography about "seeing" and if deception is part of it, so be it ;) Remember that not everything you see is real ;)

just my two cents ;)
