hey. its my birthday on thursday so im looking to invest in a new lens for my D50. right now i have a 28-80 and a 70-300. they work really well and i got them for relatively cheap.
i'm looking to invest in a fast lens. maximum aperture of 2.8 or 1.8. i've been looking at the 50mm 1.8 lens by nikon. the 28-105 2.8 by sigma. the 28-70 2.8 by sigma. and the 105 mm 2.8 by nikon. im not sure if i want to start using prime lenses because i havent before. and i like having the range that comes with a zoom. so im leaning towards the 28-105mm by sigma. but i want input, please. help me out and let me know what u guys think

The 50mm 1.8 is a must have and for the money its a great cheap lens!

Look how good it is!

go with the 50mm f1.8 you will never regret it.. and you can always use your sneaker zoom ;)

I bet there is at least 10.000 users here that would say the same thing...

the 50 1.8 is a nice lens to have

but so is a 105 2.8 macro, and the sigma 10-20 wide angle...I guess it's all about what you want to shoot.

Yep, I love my 50, probably about the sharpest lens you can get, and the price is soooo right.

The Sigma 105 macro and 10-20 are quite useful also.

If you're going in the 28-70 range, the Tamron SP AF 28-75 is about the best lens in that range period. I still want one. Went with the 24-135 for the extra walk around range (which is about perfect BTW, and stays on the D50 all the time now) but I'd love to have the 2.8 for indoor shots.
