I guess I am missing the "Unique" part in this entry. I am sure it's not only done by many photographers, but even used by so many filmmakers.

It doesn't matter what you photograph, you can't get around being derivative. A unique entry nonetheless.

I started this thread to get the masses thinking about their personal process and how they can broaden and improve it. In many ways, it's about looking deep inside and finding some of the answers in yourself. It really only pertains to you if it helps.

That said, I feel that commenting is equally important to the photog's growth and will do my best to do a little more in the future. Thanks for keeping me in check naldsic.

You have entered 11 Challenges and made 29 comments so you don't get moved to often. Mmmmm there is a saying about throwing stones or something?

My tip ! Don't ever go into motivational speaking!

Folks! Attack ideas, not people.

I think RyShu has his thick skin on, he seems to be handling it all well, though, the Rant section seems a better locale for this paintball tourney. : ) Lock and Load....

I agree. It seems that the majority of DPC voters take a very narrow view of the challenge subject and vote to stifle creativity. Imagination not allowed, just do something stock. Despite that, the occasional creative entry does win, but almost invariably meets the challenge description literally. I would like to see the challenges worded more vaguely to permit more latitude. Maybe those literal minded voters would lighten up a bit!

An inherent feature of challenges with subjects is that people will be driven to vote based on the representativeness of a photo. It's like asking people to pick the best representative of red and hoping that they pick your beautiful peony pink over the highly saturated rose red. People like cleverness but not, I think, at the expense of representativeness.

Maybe we would be better off with challenge subjects that are more broad, but (and I'm new so take this with a grain of salt) it seems like there is already a good mix of specific subjects ("Clichés") and nonspecific ("Photojournalism").

Anyway, I agree with RyShu that many photographers in the CC contest seemed to lack the patience to come up with a really well thought-out photo. I think it's just something that comes with time; photography is a beginner's art, easy and fast. We're bound to see a lot of beginners and a lot of impatient people. Give them time to figure it out; at least, on this site, they're getting some feedback and can thus (hopefully) improve.

What's wrong with that? I told you I'm looking for more in the entries. I'm a strict voter that only gives high votes to those images that move me. I try to vote on all images in a challenge so as not to skew it though.

As per your comment, looks like you were able to find more in this entry. Did you really score this 10?

Nah, forget it. I don't see any point.

Locking this thread. I'm ashamed of some of the posters in this thread. I think the OP has held up well under unwarranted attacks.
