I'm looking to have my own website and I need some advise on who to go through or should I build one myself. Who do you recommend? How should I get started?

i put mine together in a weekend with a template. If money is not an issue farm it out...but you can save a lot bu doing it yourself.

I like these guys but they might now be the cheapest. I'd suggest a blog or something similar until you can get started. |

You might try //www.1and1.com.
It's 9.99 a month, but they give you 3 domain names, Photoshop Elements 4, GoLive, with 100 GB web space and 1,000 GB traffic
edit - and blog, and picture galleries, but most should have those.

It won't be cheap to have it made for you but there are lots of great template sites out there. One that has designs I like (and which a business client of mine has used and expressed real satisfaction with) is //allwebcodesign.com/ which offers a range especially for photographers and artists. Some templates even include shopping basket and payment processing. They come with instructions that you follow to customise the site and input your own content. I think templates cost around between $20 and $100 but I'm not sure at all as that's from memory.
If you do want to pay someone to create a site for you, I'd be happy to discuss details with you via email/ PM. I'm away for a week but feel free to contact me and I'll respond when I get back.
Honestly though, unless you're making this your profession, and even then in most instances - it's a better deal to take the template path.

Signature series page 16... expensive, but the layout and Paypal cart are nicely done.
