Whaaa exited.... I live in an old farm house and the back of the house are still original stables. Very rural. I'm building my photostudio in this stable. It's still very authentic. Lovely!

The surroundings are beautiful and many people come here for the holidays. Our house is on a big cyclingroute. So I want to open the stable-doors and invite them in. And show them my best photographs. Maybe I'll sell a photograph.

Now I'm picking 7 pictures for the "first Expo" and ooh is that dificult!!!! Here's one of my favorites...

I want to print the pictures at 50x70 cm and glue them on aluminum, laminate them and I have some rustic wooden panels as a frame.

Has anyone done this before? And do you have any hints an tips?

Great choices - I have a feeling you'll sell more than one print when people start coming through :) Wonderful photos!

Unfortunately I have no hints or tips to offer :(

Good luck ma'am!!

But, don't expect anything. Photography is a hard thing to sell (that's my experience anyway)

Thnx,
Nope I don't expect much, just see what happens, and maybe people just like my work and hire me to make pictures for them.

It's the easiest thing in the world to sell something to someone who wants one...

It's the hardest thing in the world to sell something to someone who doesn't want it...

But if you just put stuff out there, you never know where it will end up...

You're quit right! I have the space, so why not fill it, that's myvision. And it's a nice promotion for my photstudio ;-)

If people go there for the holidays they would probably like images that remind them of there when they go home. Also, the bike riders would probably love images of people riding bikes in the area, maybe even pictures of themselves.

I've always thought it was funny how many people bought the ridiculously priced prints on cruise ships, at tourist destinations, when you are on a roller coaster...

Give people what they want and they will buy. And if you have virtually no competition...

Hmm that's an idea.... call it a photo stop. i'll make some pictures of the people passing by and than send them a nice print..... Or maybe buy a dye sub printer and make them right away!

You're not suggesting she should whack other photographers?!?!

I like the photo stop idea, especially the print now idea. Instant gratification works well :) ... of course if they're hard core they won't want to strap a tube to their back/bike/whatever, but you never know. Deal with peoples need to instant-gratify :)

Whacking other photographers? There's a thought... ;)

I live very near DC. If I wasn't so lazy, I would go out to tourist sites and take pictures of them - the tourists and the sites, give them my card, post the images on my website for them to order or not when they got home. It would drive business to my website, net me a few more prints...

People love it when they can say they had a 'professional' take their picture (if you tell them you want to take their picture because they are so photogenic...). It would also negate the need for a professional studio. Go to where the people are rather than expecting them to come to you.

If you can supply the print immediately, even better... Not sure about the whole aluminum thing - can the image still be rolled up for a flight or stuck into a suitcase?

Hmmm I'm not sure if the Germans ant the Dutch are as easy as the Americans and for example Japanese. Most tourists here are Dutch and German (Only 2 km's from the Germans border)

But it's worth trying!

The prints in the Deel (that's how we call the stables atached to the houses) will be glued on aluminum. You can't rolle them (1,5 mm thick), but the customer can get the print however they want.
I'll send it, no extra costs to their home. So they don't have to put them in their luggage. Actualy the prints will also be laminated, because de Deel is pretty moisty and dusty. The meanig of the prints ist that I don't sell that but new prints. But if anyone wants the prints the way they are, no problem. (ooow I'm sooo easy *lol*.....)

Heeey I'm not planning wacking othe photograpers... :-P

Heej Nice to ask, and great timing. Today I got the 2 canvases 70X70 cm and they look great!!!

Today they called for the pictures and they are printed. The guy on the phone told me they look great! Now they have to glue and laminate them.

Soooo curious!

In the meantime, you could take some photos of your barn/studio for us, so we can see where all those lovely prints are going to live.
