Notice that most of the challenges that has been offered lately are just recycled ideas? Currently five of the seven challenges on the start page are repeats (even if one is with a twist). Surely the powers that be can come up with something creative.

BTW I'm ready for macro VI ;-)

There seem to be suggestion threads on a very regular basis, but only a few of them ever make it to reality.

I can't imagine there to be a shortage of fresh ideas.

yea, I've actually been a bit disappointed at how few suggestions actually make it into contests

Yes, it seems each week 10-20 something threads are suggested, yet most of them go unfulfilled. And, then we have repeats.

eta; Yeah, I know it has as individual photos, but I meant as a whole challenge ;)

Here's one:

Take a picture of a person you admire and the background has to reflect why you admire them.

How's THAT for a challenge that's as clear as mud...

I had an idea I thought could be challenging was to do a Diptych/Triptych with a twist that the shots you had to use had to be consecutive shots, so you had to really plan it out before you took your shots, maybe alot of work though for SC to have to check 2 sets of Exif data for every validation though, but I thought it would be interesting to see what different people do, like night and day shots of the same object, different perspectives. Just a late night idea.

Edit: Guitar Idea is pretty sweet too!

That would be a bit too specific IMO. Now, if you did Musical Instruments, then you could have guitars included in that, without the monotony of voting on 300+ photos of guitars. If you want to see that many guitars, just go to an online catalog.

I agree, the "repeat" challenges are becoming dominant.
There are alot of great ideas suggested almost on a daily basis..

Also, please try to remember that not everyone has been here forever. So, what is a repeat for you may be the first opportunity that someone else has had.

That said, I like the guitar idea (or musical instruments).

And yes, hasn't "feet" been done? (Though, I'm pretty sure snot's not)

I've had many suggestions make it to the challenge level. Best thing to do is supply a challenge suggestion WITH description!

Well good for you!!

However, right now the front page makes reference to nine challenges. Only ONE of them is truly original (Indulgence), one is sort of (30 seconds - a follow up and fix up to 2 seconds), whilst SEVEN of them are repeats!

I know that to the newbies these aren't old .... but ALL challenges are new to them.
There are still so many fresh suggestions untouched, I don't understand why we have to have 8 out of 9 challenges recycled, surely 1 out of 9 would be a more reasonable ratio for that.

Well, start forking out some "original" ideas then, with a description. Don't just complain, work on the solution. There is most likely a repository of ideas to choose from, just that recycling comes through for new people to get a chance to show off.

Mauve (We've had just about every other color)

Bald
Facial Hair
Shoelaces
Eccentric
Inside Your PC
Movie Posters (okay to add text)
Inside a Vegetable
Body Paint
Show Me the Money (Photograph money folded origamy style)
Science Fiction
Absolut Nonsense (Ad for an Absolut that does NOT exist - okay to add text)

And some repeats I'd like to see:

Magazine Cover III (okay to add text)
Free Study XII
Advertisement III or possibly Camera Advertisement

That ought to stir the pot!

Perhaps you are not familiar with this feature, but this is what I have been referring to - the many, MANY, suggestions that are already waiting to see the light of day.
