I've been looking at buying a Nikon D50 from a private party via Craigslist. Are there any questions I should ask? Is $430 a good deal for the camera body?
The owner claims it has less than 400 exposures and says he only used it as a backup camera.
Thanks in advance. |

Actuations is probably one of the most important questions. Like asking how many miles on a used car.

I paid $600 for mine brand new with a kit lense of the 28-80. If its just the body and a used body I'm not sure it is a good buy. I don't know how much the lens is separately (probably around $150 at least) and then you can't even get at least the one year automatic warranty you would get if you bought it new. I say go new. Sometimes there are sales or a lesser price if they give you a choice between two kit lenses. Just me though. |

Well, if it is in great condition and really only has 400 clicks, then offer him $400 and let him decide whether or not it is a good deal. If he refuses, you order a new or refurb from a store. If he agrees, then you hand over four benjis and call it good. |
