not everyone can enter every challenge, and not everyone HAS to enter every challenge. we get complaints about "summer" challenges (it's winter in australia!), "baby" challenges (i don't have a baby!), "holiday" challenges (not everyone has halloween!)

for having just had a very intriguing speed challenge, oh, about 48 hours ago i see a lot of warrantless complaining. if the challenge was scheduled poorly, so be it (it's already been pointed out ad infinitum that even those IN the "favorite" zone are going to have a tough time entering too). please keep the fuss to a minimum and work on the other two challenges you have open for this week instead of beating a dead horse.

Hear Hear!! AMEN! muckpond is right on. No matter what challenge there seems to be some complaining. On "Stationery" it caused the powers of this site to change the rules after I had submitted a photo that fit the original description better and I was not a happy camper for that either. There were plenty of challenges this week and this one is only 24 hours. As it is I might not make it in myself and have two locations for fireworks tonight but they start after dark and after 9:00 pm. If I can get one in, great, but I only will have an hour and a half to make it home and edit. If I can't then better luck next time and I will just give my focus to the other challenges we have posted and there were quite a few this week. I think that trying to get in a shot on time here is part of the challenge itself. If this challenge was a month long I would imagine over 700 entries and then there would be complaining about the voting and how many entries etc etc etc. So lets just suck it up and have fun with it. There are MANY different meanings for fireworks and I look forward to some creative ones without lights in the sky to!

Does the fireworks challenge count towards WPL2 scores?

no, i think it doesn't count.

ONTOPIC: i would just remind on challenge description that is in voting stage : "... Keep in mind your target audience as you photograph, since this site spans the globe"

interesting, right? what do you say about this ? i'm not complaining about speed challenge theme, i just want to communicate :-)

peace

Back off topic - my guess is that it will. All extra challenges last season counted.

Yeah, no kidding. What a way to exclude all non-Americans.

Unfortunately in excludes a lot of Americans as well due to the timing.

Hopefully, there will be enough who can enter with traditional fireworks but maybe some will enter with not so traditional shots that also meet the challenge.

Good luck to all who can enter.

...and

Happy Independence Day

Oh, come on...we have to complain every once in awhile. Just got my first ever truly good fireworks shots, and it IS a bit disappointing that they were last night and missed the time frame only by about an hour and a half!
But here's some tips...take a tripod. Take lots and lots and lots of shots, because the timing is a bit tricky. Tell the large person beside you to get out of the frame. :)

Yeah! Just make sure you wear your ski mask and trainers and travel lightly so you can outrun the police after taking the photo :)

Well it could happen. Next year start a war with the USA. Put on a good show of trying to win but in the end surrender. You can become the 51st state and celebrate with us ;)

Hmm that's a bit too much, to get some fireworks. *lol*

Well here is a bummer. We had so much rain this morning that the golf course that our local fireworks would have been fired from has flooded. So they canceled!!! The Columbus city fierworks were last night and I blew off my round of fireworks Saturday night. I blame Langdon and the SC for all my woes - (jk - I love you all!!!) This could be a challenge for me now.
