"Take a picture of a colored subject or subjects on the same color background."
If I shoot a green sheet of paper on an exact same color green background, theoretically it can become invisible. If the foreground object is 3-d, then with lighting, shadows and highlights will make it visible. Where can I find a free chamelean?
I think many will interpret the word "same" as "similar", so it should have said that in the first place, so some would not hesitate with their ideas.
I guaranteee you that 90 percent of the Foreground/Background objects will not be of all the "same" color, including the Ribbon Winners.
Therefore rendering the Challenge Instructions totally useless/irellevent!!
Will someone please explain this to me?
The "Station i-or-e y" challenge did SPECIFICALLY mention PAPER. Yet in the top 10, many had ZERO pieces of paper. |

I have my written past copies at home, I recall it said something about paper.
I don't have a law degree, but 25 years of analysis/logic and am familiar with legalizing/foolproofing, proofreading documents. I wish someone would let me assist in editing the Challenge instructions, a half hour before they're released.
I do understand that part of the challenge is just to stop wasting time interpreting an assignments' instruction. You can do that and miss the deadline entirely, which is worse.
And yes a photographers' job is to put words/ideas into creative visualizations. Interpretations, is part of the job and "Challenge" |

Since this is advanced editing I think you could legally take a picture of an orange on a yellow background and use saturation etc (applied only to the background) to create an orange on an orange background.
Does everyone agree? |
Depends on how well you do it. If I can tell you shifted the color due to poor selection, poor shifting, or unreal shadows, I'll mark down. But if its well done enough that I can't tell, well, I can't tell so how could I mark it down for that? |

I think you can submit a help ticket and ask a SC member to look at it but remember that it will be just one persons opinion and a DQ is put to a vote. |
I ended softing the texture o not have problems... anyway, this time I am just participating for fun, I dont think I will do well anyway :D

Sometimes I just enter the picture I like best (not that I've a whole lot of experience, mind), but I like this picture better than the one I'm entering. I suspect this one has too much colour and too little editing (USM, save as jpeg).
If it's not out of order, to post it as an example, maybe there are opinions as to how or if it fits the b/w in colour challenge? |

In the future can we have separate threads for each challenge? It's a little confusing having it this way. |

I am so confused anyway. That should be the next challenge, "CONFUSION". |

I don't see why not... anyone who claims they're not valid colors for the purposes of this challenge is nitpicking beyond the bounds of sanity.

A color has many shades. The challenge does not call for the same shades. Green is green, no matter the shade, and fits the challenge description perfectly.

Well, after much thought, my entry for the Black and White in Color challenge is in. I fear that it will not fare well, but I have hopes that is unique enough to do well. We'll see when the votes start tallying...
BTW: Good luck to all who have entered this challenge with me.

For the last few challenges (I say last few, because that's when I've started paying attention more) the desscriptions are changed shortly after being issued. Both of you are right, but both of you don't take into consideration how fluid the challenge descriptions can be until the submission deadline.

I'm in color on color. I'm surprised to see both challenges with almost equal submissions. Every time I look they are within 4-5 of each other. |
