If you're referring to the preposition at the end of the sentence, that's no longer considered an error by most grammar mavens. As Winston Churchill once put it, "Ending a sentence with a preposition is the type of nonsense up with which I will not put." Avoiding prepositions at the end of sentences has led to some of the most contorted imaginable sentence structures. Of course, in this case it could say "What University do you attend?", but that would exclude teachers, administrators, and so forth :-)

You can always move the preposition to the front.....At what university are you?.......Rules of grammar change from time to time.

Yeah, but the trouble with that sort of structure is it moves the "meat" of the sentence to the end. It is more natural to organize it the other way. That was always one of the more arbitrary grammar rules, and popular syntax never did incorporate it as a rule. "What are you aiming at?" sounds much more natural than "At what are you aiming?"

Yep, I agree. After all, the idea is to convey your thoughts and the title of this thread very well did it.

hello fellow mountaineers!!! ASU is my alma mater (sort of). I went there for 3 years then transferred to Western. :) Once a Mountaineer, always a Mountaineer though.
Now, though, I am an instructor at Haywood Community College.
(and yes, I find it odd that on a site with over 50,000 registered members, 3 of us have ties to Tweetsie Tech.) |

I go to Milwaukee School of Engineering (Milwaukee, WI), I doubt anyone on DPC goes here but I'd love to find a shooting buddy from around here. Lots of schools close by so I guess it's possible.

I'm currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix--Online. I'm taking my last class and will be a graduate in two weeks and a day. Not that I have a clue what I'm going to do with my degree up here in the middle of nowhere. *shrug* |

Starting at the U of Arizona next week... theoretically. I suspect I'm going to hate it. Considering changing my major from graphic design to photography, though!
