More and more I am getting into doing a lot more to my pictures (other than cropping, sharpening, and noise reduction) in Photoshop. I just wanted to see what everyones thoughts were on my latest work, is it to much? a major improvement? My goal was first and foremost to make the edits invisable, did I succeed?

I think you did a great job erasing the peeps in the background. I probably wouldn't have ever question their existence in the first place had I not seen the original. Good work.

When I look closely, there's a big black spot along the right edge where it looks overburnt or airbrushed. The clone tool would probably be a better choice for that area.

Yeah, it's REALLY noticible on my POS laptop monitor... Looks like a finger in the way almost.

When I edit areas that have a lot of black and dark areas, I throw in a temporary brightness/contrast layer to help make everything blend better. If you put in the contrast layer and bump the brightness WAAY up and the contrast WAAAY up, it makes the image look like crap, but you can see subtle errors in your cloning easier on a dark background. You can then clean them up better and then get rid of the contrast layer.

I hope that makes sense.

mighty good effort, I'd say (except for the black spot)

First of all, good try. Yes, there is a big black spot to the right, try using the heal or stamp tool to clone the subjects out. Your work looks more better in the left side of the girl. As a tip, zoom into your image so that you can work in smaller areas at a time, this way you get less visible distortion and you can follow better the patterns of the background. Zoom in and out constantly so that you can see how it is getting.

Ben Roberts is offering some help if you want to learn how to do it. For this picture it may be worth it to try and contact him ;) I would love to see how he would do it. Konador

Yes, I agree, I started out using the burn tool to darken the people in the background thinking that would be easier than cloning. But it did indeed leave a black hole so I ended up cloning the rest. But I forgot about the first part, I'll have to fix that later.

Thanks for all the comments!!!
