To go along with what Leroy said about natural light, my shot for today was taken with daylight (not direct sunlight) coming in from a small basement window. Here's the original so you can see what it looks like without any processing, eventhough I didn't really do that much to it to get the end result. Also, the background is just my basement wall (which is white), but you can't really see it because of the little amount of light there is.

Can you manually adjust white balance?

Yes, it says you can. I don't know anything about it, though

oops, didn't see your response. Set you WB to incadescent with lamps. Higher wattage is good (500watt work light), a couple of 200w lightbulbs would be okay. Try a white bedsheet or some thing paper for diffusion between you and the lights. Clip some cardboard to the side to keep it from spilling in the background, and then put up a black bedsheet behind you. If you use a white one, the you'll need extra light on it to make it pure white. The total setup if you bought some new lamps and a bedsheet should be less that $30.

$30 is a lot for me right now with the soon to happen divorce. I won't go into details, but I'm broke.

Goodwill $2.50. I understand being broke but there is always a work around.

So not to change the subject... but I finished day 7 just in time for day 7 to start! So..I did that. 2 chandeliers and flash with tupperware. This was fun. Least # of shots I've taken yet for a day.

I know there are a couple of errors, but hey, I'm learnin' here! :)

Day 7

I bought Deke McClelland's book, Look & Learn Photoshop 6 online and it arrived this weekend. I have picked up some things I didn't know about the program that made it much easier to work with...notably the Navigator Palette. What do you think?

(I think I finally got the eyes in focus.)

Okay, spent all day traveling to Atlanta for a conference. Here's day 6:

First time using a layer mask to fake shallow DOF. Critique appreciated!

More questions: How much snacks & beverages did you consume? Who won that hand? Are you in your underwear in that foreground shot?
