I usually have been writing articles about my daughter's club soccer team and submitting them to the local community supplement in the "Orange County Register" newspaper (California). I've had team photos published when they win tournaments, which is no big deal--team photos make it all the time.

However, I decided to submit an "action" shot and lo-and-behold, they published it! I submitted three photos to the sports editor, so he could choose one (or none). In order to not seem biased, only one of them was of my daughter. Without any coercion, he happened to pick the one of my daughter.

Also, there is a chance I may be asked to go to other sporting events around town to shoot (peewee football, 'lil league baseball, etc).

Hey, it's a start! :-)

Congratulations, Les!!! Well done! You are off to a great start. That's a very good action photo of the girls. Much future success to you!

Congrats! I'm happy to also say that I was published in my college's student newspaper. The first and only picture I submitted for possible publication was chosen!

Thanks all for the kind words, everybody.

I've updated the thumbnail and link above to point to my new DPC portfolio (instead of my external hosting site). I am an official new DPC member now!

Looks good. I know it's not easy to shoot rapid action indoor sports without the right equipment.
