you're very welcome, rich. someone else suggested it to me when we did the SP thingy in May.

yours looks good. if you want your list of others doing this in the side bar, go into the Template page when you compose an entry, you can edit how the whole thing looks.

as an example, here's what mine loks like (it begins quite close to the bottom of the code): (anything in bold italics is not part of the code)

if you find this: , then you've found the right code. compare and contrast between this, what you see on my blog, and what you have, and you should be able to figure out what you need to do to get what you want.

this is where it begins

you'll notice i took the about me section off, as well as the powered by blogspot sign at the bottom. they have enough advertising, and i don't need my name at the top of this either...

I was going to do a blogspot, but then I saw that photos had to be 50kb or less. So, I figured it's better to just upload them to my portfolio here.

I have heard amazing things about WordPress too as a blogger - and they have a free service too. If you like it but use another like blogspot or LiveJournal, you can import your current blog into your new WordPress blog.

I hope to have my blog space ready to post for everyone's link section too.

Question:

I know most blogs organize posts/threads by month, so it would seem wise to start these 30 day challenges on the 1st for 30-day months. Is this challenge starting on October 2nd because there are 31 days in October (giving us 30 days and keeping it in one link for October, 2006) or can one start on the 1st or the 2nd because of the 31 days in October?

Edit: typo

What's with using blogs? If you post your photos here at DPC in your own portfolio, then you can get the comments attached to them here at DPC, as well as view count; not to mention adding a photo to your favorites.

Putting them in a blog really splinters the camaraderie and intimacy that exists here at DPC. If folks don't have a portfolio, then please join as a member. Advising registered users (non-members) to post to their own blogs is (IMHO) robbing DPC of revenue. Running this site ain't cheap.

Just my $0.02 worth. Carry on.

I agree with Lesgainous. This site has such terrific manageability of photos plus easy to understand and useful statistical information. If it's okay with everyone, I'll just post my pet photos here. I'm quite in my comfort zone here at DPC. Aren't you guys?

Well, let me know.

To each his/her own I guess. I love this site too and will continue using my portfolio page.

However, for me, a blog seems perfect for a 30-day challenge that might very well grow into many 30-day challenges down the road. I am sure I might end up uploading some of my favorites to my DPC portfolio that folks here might enjoy.

I'll probably do both. Why be restrictive? ;)

heh. I'll go for that.

but does that mean we post thumbnails in this thread - as above - (still trying to get advance credit to make up for my absence in the final days), or should they all be in the same post? or? ?

I got a bit over-eager for this one, so here's my day zero picture, Suzi.

i am a member, and love the camaraderie of the site. however, after only 9 months my folio is half full. so i'm a little jealous of folio space. if there are very good images, i'll post them here too. but if, as always happens, some of these 30 are space fillers, i don't want them taking up space in my folio.

if people have a blog, the best thing to do is put it in your signature - then it's easy to find them.

Blogspot also has the ability to set up a team blog, where everyone could participate in the same blog.
