Cheers. Though I'm not saying that all of my comments actually have any value. ;)

Meanwhile my score is hovering at 5.4. More sixes please :D

Slow progress, but getting there.

...and I see you haven't commented on mine yet, so I'm still waiting ;-)

(and curious about which way my score will go after you've commented) :)

I am afraid that due to the large colume of entries for these Free Study's, that the photos dont all get seen. I am sure a lot of people stop at 20% and I dont blame them... it gets very tedious after awhile...

Do the photos get put in order by random? or is it the same order for everyone, every time??

Me either, maybe you should vote all tens from now on out, mist :-)

Yours must be one of 217 other images. I'm determined to get there, though I'm really not giving in-depth image critiques. That really would take forever!

As for the score.. Who knows? I think I'm voting higher than I normally do on this challenge. Mostly I think every shot has good qualities to it.

I believe it's random for every user (I even believe I've read it somewhere on the site)

The orders are "randomly different", or something. So don't worry, the same 20% don't get voted on over and over. I think more people than you'd think vote on a larger number than 20% though, from what I hear.

I'd like to, but I'm saving my tens until I've finished, when I'll go back and bump some up.

Maybe a 9 ;)

Ahh, someone has DQed one of their images, because the total has just dropped by 1. Not less work for me though, I'd already voted on it!

This is funny. I'm thinkin my photo is getting passed over due to lack of "thumbnail appeal" To illustrate a point, this is an update from Fotoman's scores a couple hours earlier today. Note the number of views:

Votes: 107
Views: 253
Avg Vote: 6.1028
Comments: 13

Now look at mine:

Votes: 96

The variance is views is testimony for the need to blank-out the thumbs when voting. Especially important when viewing large challenages such as this. Throws off the whole random process as it now stands. Just a thought.

I'll be happy to finish top 10, hell top 20. Because, thats still 20 out of 600+... which to me is a HUGE accomplishment!

You have rated 108 of 617 images (18%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 102 images (17%) in this challenge.

I'm trying my best to get it to 100%. I have a very slow week ahead of me, so I should be able to do it!

And woohooo, I've got thumb appeal. :-)

I wonder though, Ivo, could be registered users kinda browsing through the thumbs. Since they can't vote, they may be just clicking on the pics with "thumb appeal".

Edit: the reason for the thought is that when the number of views changes, it doesn't seem to affect my average. So, I don't think people are going back in to bump it one way or the other much.

While that may be true, the number of votes between you and the other person is only off by 10, which is what really matters here... not how many people VIEW it, but how many people actually vote.

I seriously doubt that's an issue. I'll often pull up the same shot repeatedly to show others (or just to look again myself), and each time counts as a view. Whether I voted or not, that image could have 20 more views just from me alone. Also, if an image is in the validation queue, the SC may look at it- resulting in even more views (with or without a request for the original).

Hell, I'd be happy with 3 votes total averaging 8. I'd win over the person who has 250 votes averaging 7.999. The system should be much like the Critique club where you cannot bypass one image till you're done with another. I've got no gripes as my score is pretty decent as it stands.

No, no, no... LOL ... not the validation queue.

How exactly would that work for registered users or other people who aren't voting anyway?

Shannon, as it stands, I can go through the thumbs and handpick 20% of the most desirable images and vote on only those. Can I not? If so, my point is made. I do not see any mechanism ensuring sequential voting. Anyhow, this is a moot issue.

You could set it up as such, so that theres a "random order" but, in order to vote, you must vote according to that random order, and have the thumbs in a "view only mode" until that thumb comes up in turn for voting according to the Random order set for that person.

I'm not sure that this is the case really. Both images have comparable number of votes, despite the views. If people were cherry-picking, then the votes would equal the views.

Sure... but if you hid the thumbnails, you could do the same thing by skipping images or hitting the trusty 5 button as they're presented in order. My point is that "cherry picking" probably isn't common enough to be a problem. A dozen less votes at this point could simply be a matter of coincidence as people haven't voted on all the images yet.

Looks like I will probably finish in a close 90th place. Nothing like being the 90th looser. lol.
