What started out as annyoning pop-ups for wintavirus2006 (malacious adware), turned inot a huge PC problem, I had some nasty crap on my computer!!

I never installed the winantivirus when it popped up but my system was pretty screwed up at that point..

I also discovered that having 2 antivirus programs installed (even though a had Nortons disabled cuz it expired) was screwing me up bad!

Please everyone have an up-to-date Virus Scanner and Firewall.

I am now running AVGfree and Zone Alarm Firewall (free).

Also even if you think you dont need it please have Adaware SE and Spybot S&D installed and run them reguraly..

I also now have and reccomend having Spyware Blaster installed to stop the attack before they get on your system, I went a step further and also have Windows Defender running for realtime protection..

If you want to read about my adventures and what I went through to get rid of all the crap, read this forum post (its 3 pages).

These guys walked me all the steps, which were very time consuming and got system running clean again!

I highly recommend using this site if you have any virus/malware/spyware/etc problems on your pC, they ROCKED!!

You don't need Zone Alarm if you're running WinXP SP2 with the firewall enabled. You're just sucking your computer's resources for an unnecessary thing. And good job for getting rid of Norton cause Norton = garbage.

I dont trust windows firewall on its own-- Also I like to have all the control like ZoneAlarm offers over individual programs, its not slowing me down.
