Feels sort of like amway though lol... :) If you take a picture and get 30 of your friends to take a picture and they get 30 friends to taka a picture, just think of all the pictures you would have. (only joking of course) It actually sounds like a good deal, so that is why I am thinking of it.

And how come you can't shoot forever? I plan on taking photos well into my 130's.

not sure how i missed this thread before. But if you had non model subjects i think you could count on $5.00/pic/year.

1000 images gives you $5000/year

where do i get these numbers from? Microstock is 30% of my full time job as a self employed photographer.

I believe nico_blue's stated goal for this next year is $10,000 per month, but he's in the istock top 50.

From the looks of it his illustration type stuff does better than the photography. I'm not knocking his achievements - just pointing out that it seems there is a larger market for that kind of stuff.

not sure it is so much a larger market, perhaps just less illustrations on istock.

I make Just over $1K per year from micro stock...

I see it as a little money earner to subsidise my lens lust...

I like to view stock as a fun hobby and, in a funny way, a source of critique for my image.. some one buying my image is the ultimate critique :D

If I were living of photography I would think very little of my work would be stock and much of it would be client based... I have (putting very little effort into advertising) done 4 pro jobs earning about 1/2 my stock total (About $150 per job) and they were very quick and easy (but had the disadantage of being "offical" ie I gave an Australian business number to the client so I will more than likely get an accontant to do my tax this year)

I would encourage any body who wanted to improve their skills to get into stock, as it provides the ultimate incentive for improvement... :D

My wife and I started up with Shutterstock this month as a bit of fun. We've only put up 12 photos and they've been downloaded 30 times already (in 20 days). So I guess it's possible with a large amount of images to make some decent money, as long as you put up what sells!
