I frequently find myself needing to be higher to get a better angle on the shot. I have a Jeep Cherokee Sport. Does anyone have plans for or pictures of roof racks that they use on their vehicle? Thanks for your feedback! |

I have Yakima bars and a Thule Playpen on my Explorer Sport Trac. I love it. creates interior space for four (along with the small bed for extras and dogs. I have used it many times taking photos, to get a higher perspective also, when up in the mountains etc.
Oh yeah...GPS in the window, power inverter to power computer (Macintosh of course) and hook GPS up for live tracking, etc on TOPO! software. Also have a portable printer and Adventure map paper to print out custom Topo maps on site. Been thinking this may be a way to sell prints also if I pack up the new printer into the truck. Hmmmmm....

A guy I work with made a 25 ft telescopic pole he can attach his camera to. Its complete with a remore LCD display, and servo motors for tilt and pan and a he has a wireless remote to control the camera.
He attaches it to the bumper of his explorer. I will have to get some pics of his set up and post them on the web.

Now that sounds like it could be fun. Imagine the shots possible with that? Get those photos!

How stable is that? I'd be terrified of my camera whipping around in the wind at the top of a 25-foot piece of aluminum -- and of course of the pictures having "pole shake."

I talked to him today and he will take more pics of the servos and stuff.
I have seen some sample shots he did, and it puts a good tist on large group photos. It is fairly stable, and it is made out of PVC pipe.
