Steve, a few things that I wish you'd discuss: firstly...what is "IMO" - excuse the ignorance of this question. Secondly what do you mean by "gratuitous"? I am finding that some pics that are just ordinary pics that have been swivelled to make the horizon meet corner to corner...are somewhat gratuitous..but then they meet the challenge don't they?
I'm sitting on a 5.2, so it's neither her nor there for me. I want to vote on what I see as being really good diagonal axes in shots. Maybe I'm missing the point entirely though? |

You nailed it right smack on the head BUT I was trying not to be specific...plus there are other lacking elements in many entries that aren't strong in terms of the "Diagonal" IMO (in my opinion). Yes, without question they ALL could very well meet the Challenge and I stated something to that effectin my original post (see page 2) but meeting the Challenge at minimum or contrived level doesn't make for an interesting photo.
Let's not talk too much about that as people might (most definitely will) get upset. I was mostly refering to, how I assume people might vote when they themselves are getting creamed in the voting. Keep in mind I'm only making an assumption.
IMHO=In My Humble Opinion...I'm usually never that humble so IMO, it is.

This is after I went to bed with a 6.25. Maybe its because I didn't swivel the camera to achieve my diagonal.
I should vote 10 on everything, wait until I get back to 6 and then change all my votes to where I think they should be. (just kidding!)

not bad, i suppose. it's only my second entry ever.
i, too, was a little surprised at how many people simply tilted a regular photo to meet the submission requirements.
they aren't bad, per se. . .just not as clever as i might have hoped. and some were just difficult to look at.

It's bad everywhere today. Lots of angry voters in Famous Last Words too.
I'm not in diagonal. I trying to score with a positive attitude. We need to get some good vibes going here today!
There are some really nice entries in Diagonal.
