An exceptional image that doesn't fit the challenge may indeed* get a higher score from me than a really crappy image that does. But yes, I always always take meeting the challenge into account.
And I think I'm done, personally, with talking about this. That way I'll have more time to brood about my score ;-)
*edit: but doesn't usually

Don't get me wrong for this challenge the description says "My idea" of "famous last words". Not your idea or Leroy's idea. My idea! So with that, like I said earlier, description all meet the challenge.
As far as a challenge like James Bond that is a little more strict. If I saw a image of a cow in that challenge then for sure it's DNMC (unless you can prove its James Bonds cow LOL). But not this challenge. I agree there needs to be criteria but voting only on the fact that the photog met or did not meet the description in my mind is lacking.
Just one mans opinion. |

At least now I can sigh in peace that I'll only get voted down because of the crap picture and not this misunderstanding :P |

No, Yanko. I said it first! I get the prize, and I didn't even rely on the free space! *looks expectantly to the caller for the prize*
Speaking of multi-cultural, I expect some folks who've never played Bingo are scratching their heads about now. ;)

FWIW, if the challenge description had said, "Show us your idea for a new type of car," it wouldn't automatically be a free-for-all. The voters will still expect to see some sort of vehicle regardless of what 'your idea' might be. IMO, the same applies here. There may be more than one valid definition of Famous Last Words, but the voters still expect to see that in the photo. |

FWIW, you could withdraw your entry with a self-DQ if you like. |
Nah, i don't want to self-DQ my entry even if its suffering a score far lower than I expected. I'd like to keep it as a souvenir in my page. I'd llike to see the final score as a result of all these exchanges.
Peace.

Well, mine might not be "famous" as spoken by a famous person, but it's "famous" enough that others used it too!
Hmmm... I wonder how they're doing in the scoring? I'm, as usual, floatin' in the mid-five puddle, with zero comments. |

The 6.01 - 5.98 teeter-totter is tiring.
I'm more used to the steep climb and a 4 day steady drop.
6 out of 7 comments are about the title (which is very good)
only 1 about the photo which isnt very compelling on its own,
and probably DNMC. On the way to my 2nd highest score.
Lesson learned.
