Arghhh, there's another storm coming tonight. It's hit up-island already and the wind's starting to pick up here. It's not supposed to be as strong as the last, but some folks STILL don't have power back!
Hmmmm.... at least they don't have to worry about it going out tonight, right?

He was sent back home today so they must've made a lot of progress.

BeeCee, I've been thinking of you all up that way. Hope all is well with you and that you are prepared for the elements. Hard to believe that lovely Victoria and other points NW are being hit with these strange storms.

Take care!

Aww, thanks Alice :) We usually get one or two high winds each winter but this year has been terrible so far! November was the recordsetting rains and December, one storm after another. They're calling for two more smaller ones between this one and Christmas. It's just so hard to believe.
We're personally lucky because our power is on the same circuit as the closest firehall so we rarely lose it and never for as long as other areas. I feel so sorry for others, though.

My dad was still without power last night, out on the Key Peninsula (near Gig Harbor). Supposedly, someone out there had a 200 ft. Douglas Fir fall on his house -- maybe some kind of record?

Both my parents and brother are without power still. They all managed to get generators though so at least they have heat and a bit of electricity.

I live in a suburb of Seattle, about 6 miles from city center as the crow flies. As of the time of this post, we have been out of power for 6 days and the power company is "hoping" to get it restored by Christmas Eve. That would make it an 11 (ELEVEN) day outage. I have reminded them as gently as I can that "hope" is not a strategy that's likely to succeed.

We're okay but the house is down to 50 degrees. You can see your breath in the kitchen in the morning. We've had to throw out all the food in the refrigerator and the freezer.

I'm writing this from a free wireless connection at Tullies Coffee. We had house guests arrive Monday evening. We have a party scheduled at our place on Friday. Christmas on Monday. Our son and his fiance are getting maried on the 30th. My wife is making her dress for the wedding and it isn't done. We're leaving the country on the 4th. And I start a new job on the 8th. Oh, and I have a bad cold. The stresses are adding up just a bit for us at the moment.

No worries though, it'll all turn out okay. I feel lucky we have good friends. Folks have pitched in to help. Everybody seems to have a good attitude. Our situation could have been much worse.

edit: No challenge entry from me this week, however.

Hey Dr. C... I live down in Federal Way, and our outage was small compared to yours (restored on Sunday). Let me know of there's anything we can do to help.

Wohoo.. our power just came back on!! There's much rejoicing at our house, since my kids had to live a week without internet. I didn't get my brown entry in, which, I'm pretty sure would have ribboned. oh well, next time.

welcome back Margie! Glad you survived the ordeal. A good buddy of mine nheilweil in Redmond got his power back yesterday, so it sounds like they're making significant progress :O)
