I had fun voting the AA Battery challenge. Some very creative people out there.

As usual I had a few that came in substantially lower in the results than I had picked them to do - "underrated" so to speak. :D

How about you? Any that you voted high only to be surprised at rollover? Please, not your own - our personal shots are always underrated. :P

oooh thanks - i appreciate your thoughts here. And I loved your comment during voting - a little key would have been great.

quick explanation: assault and battery. this pic represents doing time for the crime. (bah - explaning jokes kills the punchline). If you want to get deep: the salt is out front waiting for the battery to be released from prison and the offender is a blur of the past. But who wants to think that much. It's really just a pic of a battery, a salt rock, and a toaster oven grate.

I knew going in that some people were not going to get it. I figured I would get comments about the battery not being in focus - but I guess I never saw where that was a requirement. I did a pic where the battery WAS in focus, but it lost the meaning of something being behind bars. And the salt had to be in focus or else it would have drawn comments such as "that white blob in front is a distraction. Score: -2" :o)

Ok I rambled too much. Thanks for the platform lol. And thanks for getting the joke!

I gave your photo a 4. I have not given any comments because I was on holliday and did a quick voting round. I can give you a comment if you like as to why I rated it only a 4.

Hey P_Nut - you did better than me. :op

I thought it was a nice clear shot. The battery was prominent, no distractions in the background. It was a good idea - although I think I am guilty of disposing batteries that way shhhhh...

Keep having high expectations, I think it is working for you.

If colorcarnival's shot was executed more to the style DPC voters crave it would have ribboned and everyone would have thought it was Scalvert's shot. It was a very creative idea.

Wow - thank you for the compliment! I appreciate it.

Some day I will figure out the style the voters crave but in the mean time, I choose to learn more about my camera. ;o)

To further Tanja's point, maybe a smaller aperture would have pulled that battery into focus a bit more. At the aperture that you used, there is a very narrow DOF.
