We're just packing up for the beach. A couple of family members have boats and we are BBQing on the beach while the kids have rides in the sea biscuits. Last time we were down there a couple of dolphins joined the fun. I hope to get some good shots today!!!! The kids have just put their flag tatoos on their faces. Better go! See ya later and have a great day!

I'm having a BBQ with my mates from the local cricket club and watching the Aussie's play the poms. I have a feeling that a few beverages might be consumed at some point in the proceedings. I got a few kangaroo snags and steaks, some beer and I'm set for the day.

Going on youth group leaders retreat.

Australia Day is they day we celebrate the criminal heritage of the early colonies merging with the immigrant boom post World War 2 (both my folks were migrants) and collectively thumbing their noses at the mother land :-P

Nah, really we just celebrate living in the largest island nation on Earth.

Yeah I suppose it ain't too bad when a bunch of convicts can beat a country at their own game. Not once...not twice...but countless times. Hahahaha!! You were saying Docman?

So are all us Aussies gonna be wearing our 'Gang Colours' today?? (Anyone in Australia who follows the news will know what I'm talking about!)

Myself, I'm going to get drunk tonight, just for something different! :)

How do the Aussies know it's Australian Day anyway? Seems that would involve some form of reading skill.

now to run away REALLY fast before Crocodile Dundee throws a Boomerang at me...

Well the dolphins obliged. The kids had one awesome Australia Day at the beach. People pay big bucks to have this experience and we were treated to it free thanks to some friendly dolphins and their calf. The kids are still buzzing from it!

I know your just having fun Doc but really most Australians are very proud of our convict heritage. If you are able to trace your ancestors back to the first fleet it is something of an honour here.

History shows that the convicts were in general people rebellious of authority and were mostly convicted of petty crimes or crimes political in nature due to the irish rebellions.

I spent my Australia Day building a chook pen, listening to the cricket on the radio and having a BBQ with a few beer's....... now how Australian can you get.

Yes you are right. My family traced our relies back to the Captain of the first fleet to WA.

Yep...I am from a convict and proud of it. And you know what? They say the best dog breed is the plain old mongrel. Why? Cause it is a blend of many breeds...usually utilising the best of each breed.

And that is what Australia is...the mongrels of the world. A mixture of all sorts of nationalities. We are unique and proud of our country and our people. But we will also fight for what we believe in.

Yup...Aussies are the mongrels of the world...but I would love to see you all try to take us on!!!

Wow Sarah that would have been fantastic. I've been to Monkey Mia and still didn't get that close to wild dolphins I'm sure you and your family will always remember this Australia day.

Well, I must admit, I used to think of Australian day as "invasion day"....until this week....The rubbish that has occured over the last 7 days in relation to the flag has made me re-think what Australia Day means to me.

I come from a migrant family. Stiff, that they were migrants 129 years ago (My family are German migrants, who came to Australia in 1878. Not sure whether they were fleeing Religious persecution, as this is 40 years later then them), but WE ALL ARE MIGRANTS(except for our aboriginal friends.)

So, I dont care whether your last name is Hoff (as is mine), Smith, O'connell, Luciano, Nguyen, Dingo or Nasser....We are all Australian & we are all that make this country great

I have even learnt to respect our flag again & I will honour it (until it is replaced when we become a republic....)

So, to all those racist pigs who have hijacked our national symbol....PISS off

Oh....sorry, what did I do today? I had a fantastic day catching up with some of my extended family, whom I haven't seen for months
