Hello all, I wanted to say, I just got my PB!!! It was in Langdon's B-day with only 106 entries, but I will take it!!

Thank you Levyj413 and everyone else who critiqued it. I love all that I am learning and honest critiques are going to teach me more.

Now, back to reality...

I have a thing about the word critique.

Here at Team Suck, you get honest views, opinions, and constructive guidance and assistance.

You could say it's semantics, but it just feels different to me than the hammering you get in comments where very rarely does the voter consider the feelings of the photographer.

I think it's great the way that TS almost seems to have some sort of magical influence in the attitude and score right from the outset.....welcome!

Congrats on your PB!

We have special "rewards" for Team Suckers with very high scores - one is the Momentary Lack of Sucking Award. High scorer for the week has to comment on all the other Team Suck entries. Ribbon winners have to write poems.

Congrats, Leah. Fun and nicely done!

I got a P.B. on this one too :)

Ummm, modest apologies if my entry in the Birthday challenge was offensive to anyone. Well, more specifically if the title and it's implication was offensive to anyone. I can assure you that to the best of my ability to determine such things, the subjects were not actively engaged in any lewd or "best kept private" activities at the time the photograph was taken. I deduced this by the fact that not a one of them was smoking a cigarette.....

Oh, and 'grats to all the new personal best scorers! Feel free to brag at will. I'm reconsidering for the umpteenth time changing my username to missfivepointthree, but it takes too long to type.

Ah, but I suspect the "." is not a legal character for a username. Now looking at yours, it could be substantially reduced. Keep the first, third, seventh and eighth letters and do a bit of rearranging... :D

Melethia are you high on something, girl? Your average is over 5.6!

I swear that's not my fault! I'm misunderstood, and occasionally people give me scores above a 5.3. But I can, and do, score a 5.3 on an amazing number of entries. It's kind of a subgoal at times... :-)

My real goal is to sit and watch that STOOOPID real time average thingie until it gets to 5.65. It got all the way up to 5.647something at one point and I got all excited! Then I entered another challenge. Silly me. (I'm in a very goofy mood this afternoon - can you tell? I think spring is in the air. Or my antihistamines are taking effect. Possibly both.)

I really do think missfivepointthree has a nice ring to it, though.

I got my test prints back last night from the lab I plan to use.
They all have a fairly red cast to them :(
And I cannot manage to adjust my monitor to match them either - I probably could if I understood better how to adjust the settings.

So - Spyder2Express, or Pantone Huey ? They are both the same price ($100 CDN). Any suggestions ?

I agree, whatever you're smoking, I want some of that. I think that Deb and Catherine are the "Queens of Six".

Kashi, it may be the lab. Can you post a couple of the pics that had the red cast when printed? You may also want to contact some of the folks who print regularly, or start a thread asking. Idnic might be one place to start. Sorry, but I know nothing about the calibration tools.

I got these printed :

The B&W print looks okay.
The others are brighter, redder, maybe a bit more saturated too. Not sure. But they do not match my monitor.

They look fine on my work monitor - I'll check them on the other monitor when I get home. (For reference, this is a cheapish CRT, the home one is a not as cheap LCD.)
