I don't know, I think it may really be mine. I should have entered fitness. Not that that would have been any better, I just had too high a hope for my contre-jour shot.
I think I will turn my brown ribbon into a crown and I can be the queen of crap :-)
I think the worst part about it all is that my husband's last 2 photos are scoring better than mine and I am the one who wants to be the photographer. What's up with that?!? I never should have let him come play in my DPC sandbox. Getting beat by all of you is fine, you are awesome photographers, but him? He's my husband and he is using my camera! (which he bought with money from his items he sold so I could have a camera, OK, so maybe he is not all bad :-)
Thank you all for letting me vent. Now to hope that he doesn't start reading the forums also :-) |
Oh no! Take the camera away from him and when he asks for it, JUST SAY NO! :) |

Wooohooo 4.03 for Contre-Jour this is a personal worst, and I love this image but didn't think anyone else would, it's just wonderfully sucky. |

Hey, I got TWO positive comments from Posthumous on my spinning entry - during and after the challenge. :)
It's one of my more "artsy" looking shots.

Hey all, just checking in. Work has been traveling all over recently I haven't even had much of a chance to get back here. I even took my camera with me to the Boston and NYC area, however didn't get the chance to take a single snap. Oh well. Put it this way I started with 7,000 shots for the year already, but have only managed to get about 500 in the last month. Pretty disappointing.
You all have been busy! Congrats Blue Moon on the terrific placement! My the quality (and scores) too have been terrific. Also thanks for all the wonderful comments lately. Love those "Spin" and "Still shots" I definitely need to return the favor, hopefully I can get around to some comments in the next few days (starting with Team Novice, of course :).
Next stop is London (Monday) and I am pretty excited. I actually extended my business trip into a mini vacation, first time there for myself. So if any of you knows anything out of the ordinary (not in the travel books) that I should hit give me a holler.
Also, I just noticed I won an OOBIE! That is pretty neat and surprising. Never thought my stuff really qualified for OOBIE material.
Unfortunately I am not currently in that many challenges (just Free Study). I see some neat entry challenges in the queue, and plan to get out this weekend.
Currently, my "Free Study" is doing quite well for me, 6.04. Strange, I think it is a fairly weak picture.
Still need to catch up on a lot of the Team Suck chat.
Cheers all!

McDonalds. If they're still doing it...
It was around Easter when I went to London a while back, and McDonalds had Cadbury Egg McFlurries. My only regret on that trip was not getting one (I had gotten an ice cream cone with a flake bar in it earlier that day).
It was on a mission trip so we were there for ten days but only one day of sightseeing. Around Tower Bridge there's this big grassy park like area which was really nice to hang out at. And the Tate modern art gallery is not not in the travel books, but I so recommend it. I had a whole new appreciation for modern art, finally seeing what I'd seen in textbooks in real life. |

Try Highgate Cemetary. Keep your camera a bit hidden on the way in, but... Ah, I notice the web pages say £1 for a camera permit, specifying 'small cameras for private use only'. Go figure. Put the 35mm on the D200 and hide the zoom? You can get all the pictures you want with the 35. Leave out the grip, too :) Follow the site recommendations for public transport but, if you can walk up Highgate Hill, then you share the experience with Dick Whittington, whose cat is still there and who reached the top on his way out of London after giving up his quest for fortune, only to hear the Bow Bells ringing: "Turn again, Whittington..." etc.
It's a big place. You'll miss more than you see. Have a good time and don't forget to be kind to old ladies. |

Take one of the Jack the Ripper tours.
But look, if it's your first time there, don't skip the typical stuff. There's a reason people go see things like Big Ben, the London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Hyde Park, the Tower Bridge, etc.
Many of those will make (and have made for others) fantastic night shot entries!
Some of the Tube stops are very cool, too.

jayson, if you're in london on sunday, go exploring in the city. it's full of wonderful little back alleys amd amazing architecture, and as it's the banking district, it's pretty quiet on sunday. central london is also quite small, and you can easily walk a lot of it.
get a travel pass - good for both bus and tube
have a great time, it's a wonderful (if stunningly expensive) city.

Wow thanks for all the suggestions for London. I am really looking forward to the trip, just wish my wife could have made it. I guess that leaves more time for pictures. I will be staying the first 4 days in Brighton, which sounds like a wonderful town. |

brighton is fab. simply wonderful. go to the pavillion. it's stunning inside. and the pier. you'll get so many chances to do wonderful street work. the old pier is disintegrating, but you can get some stunning shots from the beach.
you'll love it!
