I do have some sympathy with that idea. However, it does seem to stem from a complete misunderstanding of the challenge in this case.
Suppose I decided that the only thing I thought was a valid entry for fruit & veg was kumquats, and I went through and put DNMC - not a kumquat on every entry, except those that happened to have kumquats in it, which I scored a 10 - would that be a valid opinion too ? Certainly we are all entitled to our opinions, but that doesn't make every opinion valid or correct.

But where does it end? How many lesser-known people have done exactly the same thing, just with less anti-fanfare?
One person's opinion is there must be fruits and vegetables in the photo, so?
A number people have far whackier ideas, just look at what some voters thought of some great images in the shallow dof challenge.
To me this is a vocal non-issue.
Frustrating to get the dnmc? Yes.
Worth wasting SC's time? No.
Everyone move on? Yes.

In your example, Gordon, the vote scrubber magic thingie would take care of the problem.
Nice score, JP. Is JP still not available as a user name? Though I have to admit I'd miss "alfresco". |

Maybe I don't have enough faith in magic. But wouldn't it depend on the number of 'kumquats' ?

JP will never be available since the fake jp voted in one challenge and made one comment. :(
I couldn't even per$$uade Langdon to change the fake jp's name to jp-neverbeenbackforhalfadecade, alas Langdon did not accept. |

yeah... i'm not for having comments removed...
i just don't think it's fair that muckpond won't let some of us in the forums voice our opinion that the commenter is a [very nice person]

En plein air, (Alfresco in Italian), describing an activity done outside, usually painting.
"En plein air is a French expression which means "in the open air", and is particularly used to describe the act of painting in the outside environment rather than indoors (such as in a studio). In English alfresco has the same meaning, however in Italian the term 'al fresco' has a rather different one, either 'in jail' or simply 'cool air'."

Ooooh kewl score at the moment, I'm at 5.4545. It *had* been up to 5.5 but now it's back down.
I haven't had any comments on the lack of veggies in my shot... feeling left out!

I for one was disappointed to see the comment disapear. Its been a personal goal to get a comment from WR for some time. Then, wala...off it went.
I'm with JP(aka alfresco). ... not worth getting too worked up over.

Ouch - just got dinged with a *2*. Now, I know my photo isn't GREAT. Maybe even just barely pushing for good. But it's NOT that bad.
*sigh*
95 votes, and even 5.0000 score, and still only that 1 notorious comment.

Almost 100 votes and clearly this is not one of my more impressive showings ;-) I can't disagree with the comments ... well, I could, but they are consistently agreeing with each other and upon 2 seconds' deep and thoughtful contemplation, they are right.
No DNMC, though. I feel special! |
