FUBAR can apply to a burned meal, bad haircut, or a photo over edited/exposed. But how many people know the military term?

Got the best idea the moment I saw this challenge post -- can't wait to give it a try! :D

Heck, I've always been good at making burned toast, too.
I always say it's not really burned just under exposed. |

I find it intriguing that there seem to be several approaches to this being bandied around:
1. Find an actual acronym in normal usage and illustrate its actual meaning: use "LOL" and show somebody in the throes of hysterical laughing, for example.
2. Use an actual acronym but assign a different meaning to it: for "LOL", Leaping Over Logs might be an example.
3. Make up an acronym out of whole cloth and illustrate it: I could go down to my beach, shoot the sunset, and title it "SOTB" for Sunset on the Beach.
Now, the actual challenge description is An acronym is a word created from the initials of words in a phrase, such as RAM (Random Access Memory) or DPC (Digital Photography Challenge). Title your image with your chosen acronym, and let your image explain what the letters represent!
I had ASSUMED that this was intended to mean "Take an actual, real-world acronym and illustrate it's actual meaning; in effect, use your camera to provide a visual definition of the acronym." As in example 1 above. Now I'm confused, because the community (or at least the portion of it responding tot his thread) seems to be taking a more liberal view than that. Which is fairly unusual, LOL.
BTW, PNA TMR... Bonus points if you can translate that :-)

Do you think the voters are going to be strict with this more accurate definition?

I read some time ago that the US NAVY had the most acronyms, something like 20-30 thousand.
There are the thousands, of acronyms, only a few can easily depicted in pictures. Some countries have different acronyms for the same thing. There are only a few that are more popular, internationally. This reminds me of the game of charades. So what country are the most voters from?
Okay idnic your welcome to use my idea, I've been known to inspire some, B.I.H.M.A.P.B.Y., or But I Hope My Acronym Photo Beats Yours. Thanks for you acronym link. I only read it up to "G" and found one common (US) one missing, although this list is from th UK.

Not unusual at all Bear. This is not the vote, so we can afford to be liberal and accommodating. It's just during the voting that we become conservative, literal, bastards! ;)
Edit: Ooops almost forgot the smiley. I'm doing my taxes this week so I have a tendency to install roofing tacks with sledge hammers.

Gee, in looking down the Acronym list I found SBID. Funny, but that's what I usually say when I hit the submit button for my challenge entries! :) |

I did one today that really works for a commonly used one, but I don't want to be one of many - oh wait... maybe I do. ;~D |

Seems like yet another challenge where us foreigners are a lttle left out. Most of the acronyms I know are in Danish and I'm convinced most of the users here wouldn't have a clue what they mean. I think I'll have to sit this one out... |

I've worked on an idea for the last 2 days - now I have all of the props made / acquired so today I will begin shooting. If this one tanks I'll be pissed, too much time & effort already invested! lol

well i have an image that rocks but my title could be a bit far out. So i am gonna shoot something else today and probably stick my first image into FS. I would hate to see it score low because of the title. |
