I got a new POS... whoops i mean P&S. The Canon A630.

Out of the 7 P&S's ive used this one is by far the fastest, most feature packed and contrast isssues aside the best P&S i have ever owned or used.
The Autofocus is nearly instant and at worst 4x faster then the other 6 on my eq list.
8 Megapixel - Small but not too noisy 1/1.8 sensor.
4x Zoom - 35mm to 140mm (35mm Equivalents)
ISO 800max + High Auto - Auto, 80 ,100, 200, 400, 800
AiAF TTL 9-point Autofocus
Manual Focus mode has 100% crop on screen with gauge.
Min Shutter - 15 Seconds
Max Shutter - 1/2500 sec
1.8 FPS Unlimited Continuous Drive
2.5 Inch Flip/Swivel LCD
Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, Stitch modes.
Front and Rear Curtain Flash Sync, Available external flash.
PLenty more and pointless to list. Its basically the same camera as the A640 10MP for 100 dollars and 2MP less. Not to mention its faster due to having the same Digic 2 processor and using less bandwidth.
Paid 249.99 at Circuit City could have gotten for 219 online.
EDIT - Manual MACRO TEST
and 100% crop
EDIT - Auto MACRO TEST 2 - WARNING 600 and 700KB image
100% crop of LCD Full Resize of Auto on John Whites Ribbon

Well I never actually shot the picture just looked at it on screen heres a quick makeshift shot of a 1 Dollar bill.
Sorry im broke now.
Shows up a bit better on a new 20. But you can see the fiber edges among the ink bleeds. a 33% crop so its downsized a bit.
EDIT - 100% 800x600 crop

I added a 100% crop of the same image as you can tell it was slightly out of focus. |

I was really hoping my Olympus would hold out till i could get my Pentax K10D and K100D backup so i could go get a Pentax M20 as my point and shoot.
It couldnt wait whenever u press on the case say hard enough to depress a button. It gets funky locks up and wont turn off. The sensor will keep showing picture but it wont respond. |

I just tried taking the same shot with my Pentax W10. No problems getting that close but the quality of your image is MUCH better. The Pentax is pretty nice for when I don't want to carry a bigger camera and for playing around with macros when I'm bored waiting for service in a restaurant, but the picture quality is pretty awful at 100% and the noise is bad even at ISO 64. That Canon looks really good for a P&S.

I used my fathers Pentax M10 for a bit and its a wonderful camera. The lack of manual function turned me off from getting the M20 so i bought this.
If you look at my 100% crop of the moniter shot it looks like theirs noise or distortion. That is actually the composite surface of the moniter. Its not smooth.
