ahahhaa... thats too funny!
I have had RCMP tell me I had to delete photos that had them in the frame. It wasn't worth the risk of arguing with them, and they were just snapshots anyway, so I deleted them. Now, they would have to be alot more convincing as I know the law is on my side...

I don't know - I live just outside of Toronto, and wasn't given a hard time photographing a police helicopter as it was revving up to take off at the local airport, fully staffed.

Thanks for the update. |
Actually, the "update" is ©2003 as well, and appears to be identical to the one I have carried since it was last pointed out here. |

Originally posted by Rebecca: I was chased out of a cemetary a couple weeks ago on the grounds that it was private property. I didn't challenge the guy since I figured that it was probably true and possibly an issue of religious sensitivity of which I was unaware since every other cemetary I've ever seen or visited was just fine, but I'd never been to a Jewish cemetary before so maybe different rules applied. That's the only issue I've ever had. |
Being a Jewish cemetery had nothing to do with it. Being private property was more likely the case. |

...and you would know this to be a fact because you are fully cognizant of what their mandate is ???
I truly must shake my head in disbelief whenever I read unsubstantiated accusations of this ilk.

I've taken photos at the airport on a number of occasions. I've never had anybody even come up to question me. I do pay the courtesy to call dispatch and say, "hey, I'm taking photos this afternoon" but nothing else.
Just don't take pictures of the TSA security counters and you should be fine... |

I was at a small LOCAL airport, not Pearson.
I was standing in the parking lot, shooting through the chain-link fence (or, since I was using my P&S at the time, putting my whole camera into the tarmac area).
Yes, the police were well aware I was taking the photos - my son (4½ yrs) was with me, and they were waving to him. He was SO excited about the helicopter too. |
