I got this one off of ebay a few weeks ago and believe it or not it lasts longer than the Canon battery that came with my camera.

I don't know how it rates compared to the one you have posted here.

Hope this helps!

Looks very interesting, and I was in the market for a new battery as my Canon batteries are almost 2 years old now. But how do you know it won't leak or spike or do something weird to your camera? There's no brand name or mfr identified. They can't even read their own packaging! It says 1300 mAh on the packaging, but their description claims it's 1500 mAh. And for some reason their regular ebay store pages have this correct.

Is there a mfr on your battery case or packaging?

OK. I'm interested. Less than $20 for battery and shipping when Canon sells for around $50 (don't remember what I paid but it was much more than $20). I wonder how the extra amperage affects the electronics. I have a warranty on the camera and I don't wanna go voiding it just for $30-40 for a battery (that's just my personal feeling) but I would like to have another spare (I have 2 right now and I use the BG-ED3 vertical grip battery holder. I used to feel comfortable because I knew if one battery went I'd always have another freshly charged and ready to use. Now I'm worried that I'll shoot them both out (on a photoshoot or family trip) and not have a fallback. Hmmm. Can anyone give any experiences with non-Canon batteries?

Be careful cutting corners on your power source. I recently posted a thread here somewhere about third party batteries damaging nikon cameras...

Battery Reads "Merkury Inovations" as the brand name. Battery outputs 1300mAh @ 7.4V.

Can't guarantee won't leak. Can't guarantee that with Canon Battery either. Anyone know who manufactures Canon's batteries for them? I use this in the battery grip so no leakage would be in the camera if it ever would happen.

It's not the extra amperage that would pose a problem for your camera - it would be any higher voltage. I bought two inexpensive BP-511's off Ebay a few weeks ago and they put out the same voltage as my Canon Branded battery comming off the charger :) You can measure it with any voltmeter - just be sure to measure it at the temperatures you plan on using it - the Li-On batteries increase a bit at higher temperatures. (not an issue for me, I live in North Pole, Alaska)
