Ooh, I remembered that thread, but I didn't think it was the same crazy lady. It's now even more frightening to realize that she's still at it.

Don't shoot me, but I think it's kind of cool. Now don't get me wrong, if every personal photo of your child looks like that then it's bad. Obviously you have a problem if you can't have natural photos of your child in your home. If you have one or two photos like that of your child it's kinda like those street guys who draw you as cartoons.
On the other hand, if your child is a model, you're going to want model editing of the photo. Replacing teeth is a bit much, but in most of these cases you can still tell it's the child.
If you look through all the samples, most aren't the dolled up kind. Several of them are pretty subtle. I think she does a good job doing what she does.

I am soo glad someone brought this to my attention!!! I have seen this type of processing in the past and yes, I've heard of the famous total makeover services provided by that site. I would like to further state that it is in direct competition with MY photo retouching services.
While they make every effort to provide a "dolls" appearance to their subjects, we strive to portray the scallywag in every child. Please send no more money to this competitor... Instead, send all photo retouching services MY way... Here is an example of some of our fine work!!!

Now, now... I'm sure there's a viable market for such blatant acts of adolltery. She just needs a better name for the site. "Naturalbeauties" just doesn't communicate the true nature of the work. I suggest something more appropriate, such as:
Shock & Awww
Claymates
Attack of the Cloned
Mask Hysteria
Barbie & Kin
Photoshock
Girls Gone Vile
Hollywooden
Fakeovers R Us
Gepetto's Workshop
A Site for Sore Eyes
All Clone Up
Oh, there are just sooo many possibilities! She could even have a nice little jingle... "Momma, don't take my Kodaclone away...!"

i emailed her, asking her what she thought
I provided a link of our forum, and told her that i thought some of her effects were overdone
"Thanks for the heads- up. I'm not worried about what others think. I've been successful for over 10 years. My customers are the ones who matter. I'm guessing most of the people on that gossip board don't have nearly the success I've had. If they did, they wouldn't have time to gossip.

I just read her copyright notice... If she so much as even kinda touched any of my work I'd sue the he!! out of her!!! It seems that she has tried to cover her bases, and I'm not a lawyer but I'm thinking that "implied" permission won't hold a lot of water in a court of law!

It's kind of funny(not really!!!) - Cindi is the one that wrote the really nice tutorial on 'pimping those eyes' I think you may have gone a little bit overboard around the mouth - but those eyes are sure dramatic!!

Considering that she was featured on SomethingAwful.com and that I rediscovered her through a friend on LiveJournal who was outraged that she would lighten the skin of a little black girl. What was wrong with the original? OBVIOUSLY the girl was too black!
I would be more incredulous, but then there are a whole slew of businesses out there that cater successfully to low taste so why should I be surprised? I'm betting that she's greatly exaggerating her success, since if she were she would know better than to host a badly dated, unprofessional-looking site on AOL.
What's truly sad is that the restoration of the damaged photo actually looks good - so good that it looks terribly out of place amongst the super uber Neat-Imaged monster-doll-children. What a waste.

Lordy, lordy. Those of you who are asking whether or not people will actually buy these things have obviously never had to deal with a "pageant parent." I'm sure she has people lined up for this stuff.
The kids ought to save these things so they can show them to their therapists in later years. I'm sure they'll be good evidence of why they're screwed up.

Seriously. Is this real???
Hillarious â€Â¦ if someone had that hanging in their house I would just laugh unstoppably for 10 minutes just to make sure they knew how insane it is. Then I'd get my daughter out of there.

I could be wrong but I think they get that stuff done for pageants sort of like an actor who gets a headshot done for his portfolio. It is certainly bizzare but I find the the real life efforts the parents make to get their kids to look like that most offensive. I'm sure they are counting the days when technology will allow them the ability to genetically engineer their kids like that without all that fuss.

Well, I said in the thread I started about this kind of stuff that I have a co-worker who paid $350 for her daughter to sit with one of these..... ummm..... photographers (cough), and the picture has won "Most Photogenic" at a couple of the more snooty fallooty beauty pageants. I don't see how they can tell by those pictures, but oh well....
I'm going to be doing her (and several other kids) who are entering pageants who require "Natural" pictures. For a $15 sitting fee, I do a picture of them sitting in front of a backdrop, then take them over to the arboretum for some outdoor shots. Though, if I don't make friends with how to do fill flash with my new Sigma flash, I might have to go back to my tried and true method of putting a piece of kleenex in front of my on-board flash to diffuse it.
